Today we're going to learn how to ollie.
We're going to take this in a few steps.
The first thing that people usually do
When they're learning how to ollie
Is they go and find a good crack.
So go find a crack
Put your back wheels in the crack.
This just helps to steady your board
So you're not rolling around everywhere.
Now the second thing is your foot position.
Your front foot is going to be slanted
On the board like this sideways.
And your back foot is going to be on your tail
With the ball of your foot at the edge.
So your front foot is sideways
And your back foot is with the ball of your foot on the tail.
Now the first thing is popping your tail.
This is the first of the three steps to the ollie.
Popping your tail just like that.
So get used to that for a minute
And then get ready to do the second step
Which is going to be sliding your foot up the board.
I want you to pay special attention to the knee
And look at how the knee moves
To make that foot slide in the direction like that.
This is what gives you your lift
And really what makes the entire ollie happen.
So after you pop your tail
You're going to slide your foot up.
The most important thing to learning how to ollie
Is getting the timing correct between these two parts.
Part 1 right here and part 2, that slide.
It's almost simultaneous
But you really have to get that action
Between those two steps down.
Now the third step is just putting your feet down
On the bolts and landing.
It's pretty simple, self-explanatory.
So you get that step 1 and that step 2 down
And then you're going to roll around
And just do ollies everywhere.
This is really a basic fundamental trick
And you're going to be doing it a lot
So you might as well get really good at it now.
