Before my DTS, I was in my final year of university and I was excited to graduate with all my
friends and you know, get out into the real world, do a job, all the normal kinda stuff.
But something that I realised was that I was doing it all in my own strength. Getting my
own marks and you know, just living my own life I guess.
I was a Christian at the time but I wasn't really living for God. It was all head knowledge,
not heart knowledge. Around this time my sister was doing her DTS in Perth and I went over
to visit her and I was just amazed at the sense of community that they had over there
at YWAM.
You could sit down with anyone and have a conversation about life, about God, about
the future, about whatever and it was just really great that these people loved me for
who I was without even knowing me and I just thought that was really amazing.
I remember sitting down with one guy and we were talking about surfing he said "You should
do a DTS, theres one in Newcastle that combines surfing and skating"
And I was so excited because they're my two favourite things in life and they're combined
for a DTS which is just so exciting.
So here I am now doing my Surf and Skate DTS.
When I finish my DTS, I'm going back to university, I'm really excited to graduate, with God this
time. And I'm really excited to go into the work place and do things for His glory and
show His love to people.
I'm confident that God is going to finish the things that He started in me in this DTS
and that even through outreach and in the future and in my jobs, university, where ever
I go, God is with me and He'll never leave me because He just loves me.
