Down along the riverside there are no cars or traffic lights

but sometimes the path just ends and you have to get back on the main road

the TORII or gates start a few minutes into the shrine grounds

鳥居は入場するとすぐに始まります

walk past it for 15 minutes and you're here!!

１５分ほど歩くと到着です

A bright tunnel through the foothill forest

麓の森の中の明るいトンネル

it's really peacefu

とても静寂した環境です

the Torii spread out more and more the further you walk from the entrance

鳥居は続き、入口からどんどん増えていきます

by the entrance its packed!!

入口から見るとひしめき合っています

only a few centimeters separate each gate

それぞれの間隔が数ｃｍです

they seem to go on forever

永遠に続いていくようです

as you continue walking

歩き続けると

the step start to get steeper

傾斜がキツくなっていきます

the path becomes

通りは徐々に

darker under the forest canopy and many gates

多くの鳥居と森が深くなって暗くなっていきます

every now and then

you'll find rest huts where you can take a break but my time is limited

it's dark and cold outside

外は暗くて寒いです

the tourists are all gone

観光客は誰もいません

it's quiet

although the official hours are 10 to 4 p.m.

公開時間は１０時から午後４時ですが

the shrine is actually open 24 hours a day

神社自体は２４時間空いています

at night it takes on a totally different feel

夜には全く違った雰囲気があります

CATS!

猫です

They are everywhere and pop in and out from the dark force beyond

どこにでもいて、深い闇の中から突然出てきます。

Some are friendly but beware they may drag you into the great unknown outside the safety of the tunnel

なつっこいのもいますがトンネルの奥にある闇に連れていかれてしまいそうです

Or just kill you with cuteness

または可愛らしさにやられてしまいそう
