- I get so many birthday greetings,
and they don't show me until today,
so I'm told a certain celebrity sent a video in today.
I haven't seen it. We're gonna watch together.
- Yo, what's up, Ellen?
It's Justin Bieber here, and I just wanted to say
I haven't seen you in a long time, and--
just wanted to say happy birthday.
Happy 21st, you know?
And I don't know why I'm even doing this video
when I'm in the building, right?
So I should-- - What?
[cheers and applause]
- Oh! - Got you gifts.
- Gifts!
- So I got you flowers
Flowers for your birthday, and then I also got you
some Calvin Kleins.
- Oh, thanks.
Calvin Klein underwear, everybody.
You know it
[cheers and applause]
I usually, I only wear my Ellen underwear,
but I will wear these because of you.
- Will you wear those? Yeah. - Yeah.
- Thank you.
- I have been showing, as everybody has been showing...
first of all, thanks for being here for my birthday.
- Of course, it's been a-- - That's so sweet of you.
But I've been showing the Calvin Klein ad.
Have you seen his Calvin Klein ad?
'Cause if not-- [cheers and applause]
if not...
I mean, damn.
And very impressive drumming too.
That was-- - Thank you.
- Yeah. - Thank you.
- That's--congratulations.
That's a huge thing, right?
And it's getting a lot of attention.
- Yeah, man. It was a lot of fun to do.
- I don't know if people know this,
but this was--this was the first show you ever did.
You were 15 years old. - Yes.
- And the way-- I mean, I just--
we've watched you grow up.
I mean, you're a totally--
- And honestly, I haven't been on TV for a while,
so I'm a little nervous.
- Oh, well, thank you for being here.
Don't be nervous.
I mean, you're crazy talented. - Thank you.
- And I appreciate-- you're doing something that--
[audience exclaims] Oh.
Look at that kid. - That is cute.
- Now, what do you think when you look at that?
Do you remember that-- that--
- I do.
I remember being pretty nervous then.
It was my first time, like, on big TV.
And I don't know.
I just get nervous in front of, like, crowds
when I'm not singing, you know?
'Cause I'm naturally, like, a performer.
- Yeah.
- But to sit down and be on camera
and, like, have to say things and being worried about--
- Like that, yeah. [laughter]
- You know? - Yeah.
No, you know, I think a lot of people
that are in this business--
people don't understand that you can be
an extrovert when you're performing,
but you're an introvert all other times.
- Right? - Mm-hmm.
- 'Cause I feel like I'm that person anyway.
So Scooter-- [laughter]
I'm just speaking for me.
Scooter, your manager, texted me and said,
"Will you be a part of the roast
that they're doing on Justin for the Comedy Central thing?"
And I'm like, "No, I'm not gonna roast him.
I don't like being mean to people."
Why would you allow-- why are you doing this?
- I think it's just cool to, like,
be able to laugh at yourself, you know?
I've done some things that might not have been the greatest.
- Really? [laughter]
Nothing comes to mind. - I know, right?
- I don't know what you're talking about.
[laughter and applause]
- But I-- - [laughs]
- I just want to be able to, you know, laugh about it
and, you know, be-- kind of just own up
to some of the things, you know?
- Good for you.
And I know, because I know Scooter
and I know you a little bit,
that you've been taking care of yourself,
and you're doing really, really good.
And I'm proud of you. - Thank you.
- I know you've straightened up...
- Thank you. - A lot.
And you look like it. - Thank you.
- I can tell. - Thank you.
So, all right, when is the Comedy Central roast?
When is that?
- I think it's in, like, a month or so.
- For your birthday, right? Your 21st birthday.
- Yeah, it's 21st birthday. - Wow.
Well, happy 21st to you coming up.
- Thank you. Thank you.
- And thanks for being here for my birthday.
- Course, course. - I appreciate it.
- Glad I could be here.
