My sister Yoko is pregnant!

妹の陽子が妊娠した！

She and her husband are expecting their first child at the beginning of May.

5月初旬には夫との間に第一子が誕生する予定だ。

A few weekends ago, they had a super fun gender reveal party, and my youngest sister was in charge of planning it.

数週間前の週末、彼らはとても楽しい性別発表パーティーを開き、末の妹がその企画を担当した。

And let me tell you, she did an absolutely amazing job putting everything together.

A gender reveal party is an event where expectant parents announce the gender of their unborn baby to their friends and family.

At the party, there is usually a special moment when a baby's gender is revealed in a creative and fun way, such as by cutting into a cake with a pink or blue filling, releasing balloons of the corresponding color, or using other unique methods.

My youngest sister Ayumi was the only person who knew the gender of the baby and did an excellent job of keeping it a secret for the past few months.

Yoko put on the punch mitts, and on the right punch mitt, there was a small black bag attached to it, about the size of a baseball.

The reveal was simple, Justin would punch the mitt with the black bag.

And if the black bag exploded and blue powder came out, it would be a boy.

But if pink powder burst out, it would be a girl.

でも、ピンクのパウダーがはじけたら、女の子だろうね。

He jabbed left first, then threw a right cross punch right into Yoko's punch mitt with the black bag.

まず左のジャブを突き、右のクロスパンチを黒いバッグを持った陽子のパンチミットに突き刺した。

And boom.

そしてブーム。

And boom.

そしてブーム。

Yoko and Justin disappeared in pink smoke.

ヨーコとジャスティンはピンクの煙の中に消えた。

It was a girl.

女の子だった。

Oh my goodness.

なんてことだ。

When I saw that pink cloud of smoke rising into the air, I couldn't help but scream from the top of my lungs.

ピンク色の煙が立ち上るのを見たとき、私は思わず大声で叫んだ。

My sister Yoko was jumping up and down with both hands up in the air, grinning from ear to ear and yelling with excitement.

姉のヨーコは両手を上げて飛び跳ね、耳から耳までニヤニヤしながら興奮して叫んでいた。

Justin was completely covered in pink powder, and after shaking it off, he finally realized that it was a girl.

ジャスティンはすっかりピンクの粉まみれになり、それを振り払ってからようやく、それが女の子であることに気づいた。

Both sides of the family exchanged hugs, and it was just so special.

両家の親族がハグを交わし、それはとても特別なものだった。

And guess what?

It's gonna be the first girl for both sides of the family.

両家にとって初めての女の子になる。

I can't forget to mention that my boys Ruka and Maika are gonna have a girl cousin.

ルカとマイカに女の子の従姉妹ができるんだ。

I'm so incredibly happy for Yoko and Justin.

ヨーコとジャスティンのために、私は信じられないほど幸せだ。
