"Hi, I'm Taylor Nissi, Director of Operations for Game Breaker Lacrosse. I'm here today
with Nick Schmidt who's one of our great regional directors. Please visit our website www.laxcamps.com.
when playing defense in the grass the two most important aspects are your footwork and
your communication. A few key terms for lacrosse are ball that means you are the person actively
covering the ball as well as help. And that's the first guy responsible for helping if the
person on ball gets the beep. First position all we want to do is we wanna have our stick
in out in front of us so we can utilize its length to play proper defense as refrain our
guy. what would do is we can need a poke, lift or slap. Nick here's gonna help me demonstrate
a proper approach along with those three checks. As I approach nick I want to come in under
control with my feet under knee. Now I want to run out because it makes easier for him
to run right pass nick. So as I approached out chopped my feet and breakdown to good
athletic position. Another thing we do is as we close the distance after a poke check
trying dislodge the ball the next check will be a slap check if nicks getting in closer
just slap on his stick and the last check is the lift check if the nick gets in too
close to me the other thing I want to do it I can push him out on his hips and maintain
this cushion to make sure I am in a proper position play good be fast and those are the
basic fundamentals defense in the game of lacrosse.
