hello everyone welcome to my channel
I am Dori I am a teacher of English and in today's
video we will talk about Locating Information task
in IELTS Reading. So, in this task
they are going to give you a number of statements
that contain information from the
passage and you have to decide which
paragraph from the text contains
this information of the statement. This task
is very similar to a matching headings task but
in this case we don't have to choose titles
or headings of paragraphs we just have to decide
which paragraph contains this information of the statement
through the whole paragraph,ok? So, the best thing you can do
in this task is firstly, read
the statements very carefully and underline
key words that will help you locate them
in the text. Secondly, after that
you should scan the text in order to locate
these key words that you have underlined in the passage
and this is exactly where the technique
of scanning is really important
So, if you have doubts about how to scan effectively then you should check out
this video over here
about scanning and skimming effectively, ok? Now, thirdly,
once you locate the information in the text
through scanning then you should read
this section very carefully in order to confirm
your answer and be sure about it
Mind you there may be paragraphs that contain the information
of more than one questions- more than one statements
okay? So, if you pick a paragraph twice
then it doesn't really matter. Ok, now let's go and have a look
at one of these tasks. Ok, so here you can see
a Locating Information task. So, firstly,
underline key words for example in question 27
the phrases "not actual blindness"
and also "a decreased ability to see"
are some of the phrases that can help you
to locate them in the text through scanning
of course always always always remember that in the text
some of the words may be phrased differently, ok?
so, once you locate these phrases
read the section carefully in the text in order to be sure
that this is the paragraph you're looking for. Also, remember that a
paragraph
may contain more than one statements
and you may have to use it twice. Do not let that confuse you-
confuse you because for example maybe the statements
30 and 31 over here
may be found in the same paragraph. Ok, that's
it for today and with this task we complete the Reading section
if you have any questions or comments please do leave them down below in the
comment section
