Packing for summer camp, not so much.

サマーキャンプの荷造りはそれほどでもないですね。

There's the folding of clothes, the labeling of linens, and remembering all those toiletries, sunscreens, and bug sprays.

服をたたんだり、リネンのラベルを貼ったり、そして洗面用具、日焼け止め、虫除けスプレーなど、すべて思い出します。

These are the basics.

これらは基本中の基本です。

But what about those items that aren't on the official checklist?

しかし、公式のチェックリストに載っていない項目についてはどうでしょうか。

The ones that make you say, gee I wish I brought that.

「あれ持ってきたらよかったな」と思わせるようなもの。

The ones that will make your summer extra special.

あなたの夏を特別なものにしてくれるもの。

Number one, light sources.

Most campers bring flashlights to summer camp.

But you can customize your light source to your own experience.

しかし、光源を自分の経験に合わせてカスタマイズすることは可能です。

A regular flashlight is great to keep in your bunk.

普通の懐中電灯は寝台に置いておくといいですね。

You might even want a reading light that clips to your books.

本にクリップで固定する読書灯もいいかもしれませんね。

You could bring something more portable like a keychain light when you need something less bulky.

かさばらないものが必要な時は、キーホルダーライトのような持ち運びに便利なものを持っていくといいですね。

Or a headlamp, which is a hands free option for camping out in the woods or digging deep into a trunk to find your stuff.

森の中でキャンプをする時や、トランクの奥深くにある荷物を探す時に、ハンズフリーで使えるヘッドランプもいいですね。

You'll always be able to find your way inside and outside.

内でも外でも、いつでも自分の道を見つけることができます。

Number two, bunk decor.

その2、寝床の内装です。

Your bunk is your temple for the next several weeks.

寝床は数週間 君達が過ごす場所です。

Why not give it some life?

命を吹き込んでみてはいかがでしょうか？

Add your personal touch by bringing in some posters and art and removable tag to hang them up.

ポスターやアート、取り外し可能なタグなどを持ち込んで、自分らしさを演出しましょう。

Bring sheets, pillows, or stuffed animals that add some character to the area, and photos of your family to put on the walls.

シートや枕、ぬいぐるみなど、個性を出すものを持参し壁に貼る家族の写真を持って行ったりと。

Arrange your books by color, hang decorations sheets, a clip fan, or strings of lights to make a truly perfect lair.

本を色別に並べたり、デコレーションシートを吊るしたり、クリップファンやそのため、このような "隠れ家 "を作ることができるのです。

Of course, make sure your camp, and your bunkmate, are cool with these things first.

Now there's a ton to do at summer camp.

And if you're into a sport like baseball, maybe bring two mitts so you'll always have a buddy.

When it comes to making connections, bringing just a few small activities can go a long way.

Number four, storage.

Your camp probably provides some shelving maybe a little shared closet space.

But it doesn't hurt to bring some extra storage features just in case you need more places to put your stuff.

Big plastic storage bins or boxes that fit under your bunk bed, or a shoe rack you can hang up, or cute little bowls or baskets that can live on the shelf.

You know, for all those little things you don't know where to put like notes from your friends.

More storage will help you feel organized, and it'll allow you to bring more stuff home when it's time to go.

収納が増えることで整理整頓された気分になります、いざという時 持ち帰る荷物も増えます。

Number five, Polaroid camera.

5番、ポラロイドカメラ。

Digital smartphones might be restricted at your camp, but you still want to create memories.

デジタルスマートフォンはキャンプで制限されるかもしれませんが、それでも思い出を作りたいものです。

Why not get old school and bring a Polaroid camera?

昔ながらのポラロイドカメラを持参してみてはいかがでしょうか。

You can snap photos all summer long.

夏の間、ずっと写真を撮ることができます。

And unlike digital photos, these can live on your dorm walls.

しかも、デジタル写真と違って、寮の壁に飾っておくことができます。

Don't forget to bring lots of film because this one will be a hit.

フィルムもたくさん持ってきてください。

Bring all five of these things to camp and this year will be truly special.
