If I were to interview in English right now, would you know what to say?

Nowadays, it has become more and more common for companies to interview job applicants in English.

昨今、企業が就職希望者を英語で面接することが一般的になってきています。

Even if you speak well, you might be caught off guard, not knowing exactly what to say.

うまく話せても、何を話せばいいのかわからず不意打ちを食らうかもしれません。

So, it's important to be prepared for these questions.

だから、このような質問に備えておくことが大切なのです。

With that in mind, in this video, I'll give you examples of common job interview questions and how to best answer them.

このビデオでは、よくある面接の質問の例と、それにどう答えるのがベストかを紹介します。

Hello, Rebecca; thanks for coming.

So, tell me about yourself.

For this question, it's important to have a strategy to answer.

この質問に対しては、答えを出すための戦略を持つことが重要です。

A good idea is to talk about personal aspects such as personality characteristics that can be applied in the workplace.

職場で活かせるような性格的な特徴など、パーソナルな部分を話すのもよいでしょう。

Words like outgoing, communicative, analytical, or open-minded are some examples.

外向的、コミュニケーション能力、分析的、オープンマインドなどの言葉がその例です。

And talking about past working experiences is also a good idea.

そして、過去の社会人経験を話すことも良いアイデアです。

You can use phrases like, "I have worked with" and the area of work "for" the amount of time you have done it.

このようなフレーズを使うことができます。一緒に仕事をしてきた分、仕事の領域が広がります。

Or even talk about your study experience abroad.

あるいは、海外での勉強体験の話でもいいんです。

Well, I'm very outgoing, and I'm extremely communicative, and I love meeting new people and teaching.

まあ、私は非常に外向的で、非常にコミュニケーション能力が高いので、新しい人に会うのも教えるのも大好きです。

And I have been working with education for over 15 years, and I have studied abroad for 3 years.

そして、15年以上教育に携わり、3年間留学した経験もあります。

That's great to know.

And what would you say is your greatest strength?

Talking about your strengths is telling the interviewer about what you do naturally and well.

自分の強みを話すということは、自分が自然によくできることを面接官に伝えるということです。

You can use words like high-achiever, flexible, organized, and strategic.

高業績、柔軟性、組織力、戦略性といった言葉を使うことができます。

You can use phrases like, "I'm" a high-achiever, or even "What makes me stand out is" being strategic.

「私は成績優秀者」です、または「私を目立たせるのは」戦略的であるなどのフレーズを使用することもできます。

And don't forget to back up your strength with how you use it.

そして、その強さをどう使うかでバックアップすることも忘れないでください。

I guess you could say, I'm a high-achiever, I love to have goals, and I'm very motivated to start and complete all of my tasks.

目標があることが好きで、すべての仕事を始めて完了させることに意欲的な、達成感の高い人間だと言えるかもしれませんね。

And what makes me stand out is my ability to learn very quickly and teach it to other people.

そして、私が際立つのは、非常に早く学び、それを人に教えることができる点です。

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Talking about the future is always uncertain.

未来を語ることは常に不確実です。

The idea here is to show what are your intentions for your career and this possible job.

ここでは、あなたのキャリアとこの可能性のある仕事に対して、どのような意図があるのかを示すことです。

You can use phrases using the modal "would".

形式上のwouldを使った、このようなフレーズを使うことができます。

"I'd love to" know, to learn, to have the opportunity.

ぜひ知りたい、学びたい、機会が欲しい。

Or using the simple future with "will", such as, "In 5 years, I will" be a manager.

あるいは、willを使った単純未来を使って、5年後にはマネージャーになる、といった具合です。

Well, in 5 years, I hope I will be a renowned teacher that helps people learn English in a fun and simple way.

まあ、5年後には、英語を楽しく簡単に学べる有名な先生になっていたいですね。

I also would love to have the opportunity to learn more about recording and editing videos professionally so I can make my content even better.

また、プロとして映像の収録や編集について学ぶ機会があれば、より良いコンテンツを作ることができるようになりますね。
