to say to everyone in my life.

私の人生のすべての人に言いたいことがあります。

That phrase is "Life is easy."

そのフレーズは "人生は楽だ"

It's so easy and fun.

とても簡単で楽しいです。

I never think like that.

そんなこと考えたこともありません。

When I was in Bangkok, I felt like life is very hard, very complicated.

バンコクにいた時に感じたのは、人生はとても難しく、とても複雑なものだということです。

I was born in a poor village on the Northeastern of Thailand

私はタイ東北部の貧しい村に生まれました。

And when I was a kid, everything was fun and easy,

子供の頃は何もかもが楽しくて楽だったのに

but when the TV came, many people came to the village,

が、テレビが来た時にはたくさんの人が村に来てくれました。

they said,

と言っていました。

"You are poor, you need to follow success in your life.

"貧乏人のあなたは、人生の成功を追いかける必要があります。

You need to go to Bangkok to pursue success in your life."

人生の成功を追求するためにはバンコクに行く必要があります。"

So I felt bad, I felt poor.

だから、悪いと思った、かわいそうだと思った。

So I needed to go to Bangkok.

だからバンコクに行く必要があった。

When I went to Bangkok, it was not very fun.

バンコクに行った時は、あまり楽しくなかったです。

You need to learn, study a lot and work very hard,

勉強して、たくさん勉強して、一生懸命頑張らないといけません。

and then you can get success.

と言って、成功を手に入れることができます。

I worked very hard, eight hours per day at least,

最低でも1日8時間は頑張って働いていました。

but all I could eat was just a bowl of noodles per meal,

と言っても、一食分の麺類しか食べられませんでした。

or some Tama dish of fried rice or something like that.

とか、多摩のチャーハンとか、そんな感じの料理。

And where I stayed was very bad, a small room where a lot of people slept.

そして、私が泊まったところは、狭い部屋で大勢の人が寝ていて、とても悪かったです。

It was very hot.

とても暑かったです。

I started to question a lot.

疑問に思うことが多くなりました。

When I work hard, why is my life so hard?

一生懸命働いていると、どうしてこんなにも人生が苦しいんだろう？

It must be something wrong, because I could use

何かの間違いに違いありません。

a lot of things, but I can not get enough.

いろいろありますが、私の場合は

And I tried to learn, I tried to study.

そして、勉強しようとした、勉強しようとした。

I tried to study in the university.

大学で勉強してみました。

It's very hard to learn in university, because it's very boring.

大学の勉強はつまらなくて大変です。

(Laughter)

And when I looked at subjects in the university,

in every faculty, most of them had destructive knowledge.

There's no productive knowledge in university for me.

If you learn to be an architect or engineer,

that means you ruin more.

that means we learn how to poison,

to poison the land, the water,

and learn to destroy everything.

と、すべてを破壊することを学びます。

I feel like everything we do is so complicated, so hard.

何もかもが複雑で大変な気がする

We just make everything hard.

私たちはすべてを難しくしているだけです。

Life was so hard and I felt disappointed.

人生が辛くて悔しい思いをしました。

I started to think about, why did I have to be in Bangkok?

なぜバンコクにいる必要があったのか、考え始めました。

I thought about when I was a kid,

子供の頃のことを考えてみました。

nobody worked eight hours per day,

誰も１日８時間働いていない

everybody worked two hours, two months a year,

誰もが2時間、1年に2ヶ月間働いていました。

planting rice one month and harvesting the rice another month.

一ヶ月間田植えをして、もう一ヶ月間稲刈りをする。

The rest is free time, ten months of free time.

あとは10ヶ月間の自由時間。

That's why people have so many festivals in Thailand,

だからタイではお祭りが多いんですね。

every month they have festival.

毎月のようにお祭りがあります。

(Laughter)

(笑)

Because they have so much free time.

彼らは自由な時間が多いからです。

And then in the daytime, everyone even takes a nap.

そして昼間はみんな昼寝までしてしまう。

Even now in Laos, go to Laos if you can,

今のラオスでも、できればラオスに行きましょう。

people take a nap after lunch.

人は昼食後に昼寝をします。

And after they wake up, they just gossip,

目が覚めた後はゴシップばかり。

how's your son-in-law, how's your wife, daughter-in-law.

お婿さんや奥さん、お嫁さんはどうですか？

People have a lot of time,

人は時間を持て余している。

but because they have a lot of time,

が、時間があるからこそ

they have time to be with themselves.

彼らは自分自身と一緒にいる時間を持っています。

And when they have time to be with themselves,

そして、自分たちと一緒にいる時間があるとき。

they have time to understand themselves.

彼らは自分自身を理解する時間を持っています。

When they understand themselves,

彼らが自分自身を理解した時

they can see what they want in their life.

彼らは自分の人生に何を求めているのかを見ることができます。

So, many people see that they want happiness,

そのため、多くの人が幸せを求めていることがわかります。

they want love, they want to enjoy their life.

彼らは愛を求め、人生を楽しみたいと思っています。

So, people see a lot of beauty in their life,

だから、人はたくさんの美しさを見ているのです。

so they express that beauty in many ways.

その美しさを様々な形で表現しています。

Some people by carving the handle of their knife,

包丁の柄を彫ることで、何人かの人が

very beautiful,

とても美しいです。

they weave the baskets very nicely.

綺麗にカゴを編んでくれます。

But, now, nobody uses that word.

でも、今は誰もその言葉を使わない。

Nobody can do something like that.

そんなことは誰もできません。

People use plastic everywhere.

人はどこでもプラスチックを使っている。

So, I feel like it's something wrong in there,

だから、何かおかしい気がするんだよね。

I cannot live this way I'm living.

こんな生き方はできない......私は生きています。

So, I decided to quit University,

そこで、大学を辞めることにしました。

and went back home.

と言って帰宅しました。

When I went back home, I started to live like I remember,

家に帰ると、思い出したように生活するようになりました。

like when I was a kid.

子供の頃のように

I started to work two months a year.

年2ヶ月から働き始めました。

I got four tons of rice.

4トンの米を手に入れた。

And the whole family, six people,

そして、家族全員で6人。

we eat less than half a ton per year.

年間で半分以下のトン数を食べています。

So we can sell some rice.

だからコメが売れるんだよ

I took two ponds, two fish ponds.

釣堀を２本、２匹連れて行きました。

We have fish to eat all year round.

一年中食べられる魚を用意しています。

And I started a small garden.

そして、小さな庭を始めました。

Less than half an acre.

半分以下のエーカー。

And I spend 15 minutes per day to take care of the garden.

そして、1日15分かけて庭の手入れをしています。

I have more than 30 varieties of vegetables in the garden.

庭には30種類以上の野菜があります。

So, six people cannot eat all of it.

なので、6人で全部食べることはできません。

We have a surplus to sell in the market.

市場で売るための余剰金があります。

We can make some income, too.

収入もある程度は稼げます。

So, I feel like, it's easy, why did I have to be in Bangkok

だから、私は、それは簡単なような気がします、なぜ私はバンコクにいなければならなかったのか

for seven years, working hard and then not have enough to eat,

7年間、一生懸命働いても食べきれずに

but here, only two months a year and 15 minutes per day

しかし、ここでは、1年に2ヶ月と1日15分しかない

I can feed six people.

6人も食べさせられる

That's easy.

それは簡単だ

And before I thought that stupid people like me

そして、私のようなバカな人間がいると思う前に

who never got a good grade at school,

学校で成績が上がらなかった人

cannot have a house.

家を持つことはできません。

Because people who are cleverer than me,

自分より賢い人たちだから。

who are number one in the class every year,

毎年クラスで1位になっている人たち。

they get a good job,

彼らは良い仕事を得る

but they need to work more than 30 years to have a house.

しかし、彼らは30年以上働かないと家を持つことができません。

But me, who cannot finish university, how could I have a house?

しかし、大学を卒業できない私に家が持てるわけがない。

Hopeless for people who have low education, like me.

私のような低学歴の人には絶望的です。

But, then I started to do earthly building, it's so easy.

でも、土建屋を始めてみたら、こんなに簡単なんですね。

I spend two hours per day, from 5 o'clock in the morning,

1日2時間、朝5時から過ごしています。

until 7 o'clock in the morning, two hours per day.

朝7時まで、1日2時間。

And in three months, I got a house.

そして3ヶ月で家を手に入れた。

And another friend who's the most clever in the class,

そして、クラスで一番賢いもう一人の友人。

he spent three months to build his house, too.

彼も３ヶ月かけて家を建てたそうです。

But, he had to be in debt. He had to pay for his debt for 30 years.

しかし、彼は借金をしなければならなかった。30年分の借金を払わなければならなかった。

So, compared to him, I have 29 years and 10 months of free time.

だから、彼に比べれば、私は29年10ヶ月の自由時間があります。

(Laughter)

(笑)

So, I feel that life is so easy.

だから、人生はとても楽だと感じています。

I never thought I could build a house as easy as that.

こんなに簡単に家が建てられるとは思いませんでした。

And I keep building a house every year, at least one house every year.

そして、毎年最低でも一軒は家を建て続けています。

Now, I have no money, but I have many houses.

今はお金はないけど、家はたくさんある。

(Laughter)

My problem is in which house I will sleep tonight.

私の問題は、今夜はどの家で寝るかということです。

(Laughter)

(笑)

So, "how" is not a problem, anybody can build a house.

だから、「どうやって」というのは問題ではなく、誰でも家を建てることができます。

The kids, 13 years old, at the school,

13歳の子供たちが学校で

they make bricks together, they make a house.

一緒にレンガを作って家を作るんだ

After one month, they have a library.

一ヶ月後には図書館があるそうです。

The kids can make a house,

子供たちが家を作ることができます。

a very old nun can build a hut for herself.

年老いた尼は自分のために小屋を建てることができる。

Many people can build a house.

多くの人が家を建てることができます。

So, it's easy.

だから、簡単なんです。

If you don't believe me, try it.

信じられない人は試してみてください。

If somebody wants to have a house.

誰かが家を持ちたいと思ったら

And then, the next thing is clothing.

そして、次は服です。

I felt like I'm poor, like I'm not handsome.

貧乏人なのにイケメンじゃないみたいな感じがした。

I tried to dress like somebody else, like a movie star.

誰かの映画スターのような格好をしてみました。

To make myself look good, look better.

自分を良く見せるために、見栄えを良くするために

I spent one month to save money to buy a pair of jeans.

1ヶ月かけて節約してジーンズを購入しました。

When I wore them, I turned left, I turned right,

履いたら左に曲がり、右に曲がりました。

looked in the mirror.

は鏡を見た。

Every time I look, I am the same person.

見るたびに、私は同じ人間です。

The most expensive pants cannot change my life.

一番高価なパンツでは、私の人生を変えることはできません。

I felt like I'm so crazy, why did I have to buy them?

なんか、なんで買わなきゃいけないんだろうと思ってしまいました。

Spend one month to have a pair of pants.

パンツ一丁になるまでの1ヶ月間を過ごしましょう。

It doesn't change me.

それは私には変わりません。

I started to think more about that.

そのことをもっと考え始めました。

Why do we need to follow fashion?

なぜファッションを追う必要があるのか？

Because, when we follow fashion, we never catch up with it,

なぜなら、ファッションを追いかけていると、決して追いつけないからです。

because we follow it.

私たちはそれに従っているからです。

So, don't follow it, just stay here.

だから、それに従わずに、ここにいてください。

(Laughter)

(笑)

Use what you have.

持っているものを使いましょう。

So, after that, until now, 20 years, I have never bought any clothes.

だから、その後、今まで20年間、一度も服を買ったことがありません。

All the clothes I have are leftovers from people.

私が持っている服は全て人の残り物です。

When people come to visit me, and when they leave,

人が遊びに来てくれるときと、人が帰るとき。

they leave a lot of clothes there.

So, I have tons of clothes now.

And when people see me wear very old clothes,

they give me more clothes.

So, my problem is, I need to give clothes to people very often.

So, it's so easy.

And when I stopped buying clothes, I felt like, it's not only clothes,

そして、服を買わなくなった時に感じたのは、服だけじゃないんです。

it's about something else in my life,

それは私の人生の他の何かについてです。

What I learned is that when I buy something,

私が学んだのは、何かを買うときに

and I think about, I buy it because I like it,

と考え、気に入ったので購入しています。

or I buy it because I need it.

とか、必要だから買う。

So, if I buy it because I like it, that means I'm wrong.

だから、好きだから買うということは、それは私が間違っているということになります。

So, I feel more free when I think like this.

だから、こうやって考えていると自由な気持ちになるんです。

And the last thing is, when I get sick, what will I do?

そして最後は、病気になったらどうしようかな？

I really worried in the beginning, because then I had no money.

最初の頃はお金がなくて本当に心配していました。

But, I started to contemplate more.

しかし、私はさらに考え始めました。

Normally, sickness is a normal thing, it's not a bad thing.

普通に考えれば、病気は当たり前のことで、悪いことではありません。

Sickness is something to remind us that we did something wrong in our lives,

病気というのは、私たちの生活の中で何か悪いことをしたと気づかせてくれるものです。

that's why we got sick.

だから病気になったんだ

So, when I get sick, I need to stop and come back to myself.

だから、体調を崩した時には、立ち止まって自分に戻ってくる必要があるんです。

And think about it, what I did was wrong.

考えてみてください、私のしたことは間違っていました。

So, I learned how to use water to heal myself,

そこで、水を使って自分を癒す方法を学びました。

how to use earth to heal myself,

自分を癒すための地球の使い方

I learned how to use basic knowledge to heal myself.

自分で治すための基礎知識の使い方を学びました。

So, now that I rely on myself in these four things,

なので、今はこの4つのことで自分を頼りにしています。

I feel like life is very easy,

人生はとても楽なものだと感じています。

I feel something like freedom, I feel free.

何か自由のようなものを感じる、自由を感じる。

I feel like I don't worry about anything much,

あまり何も気にしていないような気がします。

I have less fear, I can do whatever I want in my life.

恐怖心が少なく、自分の人生で好きなことができる。

Before, I had a lot of fear, I could not do anything.

以前は、怖くて何もできなかった。

But, now I feel very free, like I'm a unique person on this Earth,

でも、今はとても自由な感じがして、自分がこの地球上で唯一無二の存在であるような気がしています。

nobody like me, I don't need to make myself like anybody else.

誰も私のような人はいない、私は自分を他の誰かのようにする必要はありません。

I'm the number one.

私がナンバーワンです。

So, things like this make it easy, very light.

だから、こういったものがあると簡単で、とても軽いんです。

And, after that, I started to think about

そして、その後、私が考えるようになったのは

that when I was in Bangkok, I felt very dark in my life.

バンコクにいた時は、自分の人生の中でとても暗い気持ちになりました。

I started to think that many people maybe thought like me at the time.

もしかしたら、当時の自分と同じように考えている人が多いのではないかと思うようになりました。

So, we started a place called "Pun Pun" in Chiang Mai.

そこで、チェンマイで「プンプン」という場所を始めました。

The main aim is just saving seed.

主な目的は種を保存することだけです。

To collect seed, because seed is food, food is life.

種を集めること、それは、種は食べ物であり、食べ物は命であるからです。

If there is no seed, no life.

種がなければ命もない。

No seed, no freedom.

種もないし、自由もない。

No seed, no happiness.

種もないし、幸せもない。

Because your life depends on somebody else.

あなたの人生は誰かに依存しているからです。

Because you have no food.

食べ物がないからです。

So, it's very important to save seed.

だから、種を保存することはとても大切なことなんです。

That's why we focus on saving seed.

だからこそ、種の保存に力を入れています。

That's the main thing in Pun Pun.

それがプンプンのメインです。

And the second thing is it is the learning center.

そして2つ目は、学習センターです。

We want to have a center for ourselves to learn,

自分たちで学ぶためのセンターを持ちたい。

learn how to make life easy.

人生を楽にする方法を学ぶ

Because we were taught to make life complicated and hard all the time.

人生を複雑にして難しくすることを常に教えられていたからです。

How can we make it easy? It's easy,

どうすれば簡単にできるのか？それは簡単なことです。

but we don't know how to make it easy anymore.

と言っても、もうどうやって楽にしたらいいのかわからないですよね。

Because we always make it complicated

私たちはいつも複雑にしているから

and now, we start to learn, and learn to be together.

と、今、学び始め、一緒に学ぶことができるようになりました。

Because, we were taught to disconnect ourselves

なぜなら、私たちは自分自身を切断するように教えられていたからです。

from everything else, to be independent,

他のものから独立するために

so we can rely on the money only.

なので、お金だけに頼ることができます。

We don't need to rely on each other.

お互いに頼る必要はありません。

But now, to be happy, we need to come back,

でも、今、幸せになるためには、戻ってくる必要があります。

to connect to ourselves again, to connect to other people,

再び自分と人とを繋ぐ、人と人とを繋ぐ。

to connect our mind and body together again.

心と体を再び結びつけるために

So, we can be happy. Life is easy.

だから、幸せになれる。人生は楽なものです。

And from beginning until now, what I learned

そして、最初から今に至るまで、私が学んだことは

is the four basic needs: food, house, clothes and medicine

は、「食」「家」「衣」「薬」の4つの基本的なニーズがあります。

must be cheap and easy for everybody,

は、誰もが安くて簡単にできるものでなければなりません。

that's the civilization.

それが文明です。

But, if you make these four things hard and very hard for many people to get,

しかし、この4つのことを、多くの人が手に入れることが難しく、非常に難しいものにしてしまうと

that's uncivilized.

それは野蛮だ
