It feels like I'm free and it's the best feeling.

I started dance when I was seven years old

ダンスを始めたのは7歳の時

and I didn’t know that I wanted to be a dancer,

と、ダンサーになりたいとは思っていませんでした。

but this was inside of me

しかし、これは私の中にあったもので

and was so easy,

と、とても簡単でした。

it was like my body was ready to do that.

という感じで、体がその気になった。

I just realised that I want to keep doing this for life.

一生続けていきたいと実感したところです。

When I was a kid, I was the only black dancer in the studio

子供の頃、スタジオで黒人のダンサーは私一人でした

with more than 50 white ballerinas.

50人以上の白人のバレリーナと一緒に。

When you think ballet, you think about white people dancing.

バレエというと、白人が踊っているイメージがありますよね。

I heard that I was never going to make any classical company

クラシックの会社は作れないと聞いていたのですが

because I was a black ballerina.

というのも、私は黒人のバレリーナだったからです。

How you say to someone that you're not going to make your dreams

夢を叶えるために、相手にどう言うか

and I never stop to fight and I'm here now.

そして、私は戦いをやめず、今ここにいる。

Freedom came when I moved to London

自由はロンドンに移ってから

and I can see that I could be a black ballerina.

と、黒人のバレリーナになれるかもしれないと思えるようになりました。

I can dance with white dancers, black dancers

白人のダンサー、黒人のダンサーと踊ることができます。

and it's just amazing.

と、とにかくすごいんです。

When I'm improvising it's kind of my style of dance.

即興でやっているときは、私のダンスのスタイルみたいなものです。

It's a mix of what I learned as a classical, as a contemporary dance

私がクラシックダンスとして学んだことと、コンテンポラリーダンスとして学んだことをミックスしたものです。

but it’s the way I move my body, it's not really choreographed.

でも、それは私の体の動かし方であって、別に振り付けがあるわけではありません。

I do love to dance the big classicals

and everybody looked the same - same arms.

と、みんな同じような腕をしていました。

This is like, technical.

これって、技術的な話ですよね。

But I do love to have this freedom as well - that I can move as me.

でも、自分らしく動ける、この自由さも好きなんです。

It's the movement, it's the music.

それは動きであり、音楽です。

It's part of freedom -

それは自由の一部である-。

that you connect to with your own body.

自分の身体で繋いでいくもの。

It's been a long journey

長い道のりだった

and I love how far and how beautiful I've become.

と、どこまでも美しくなっていく自分が好きです。

Inside the studio we have all types of bodies, all types of dancers,

スタジオの中には、あらゆるタイプの身体、あらゆるタイプのダンサーがいます。

and colours, we are mixed.

と色が混在しています。

And we only have one single language and it's dance.

そして、私たちにはたったひとつの言語があり、それはダンスなのです。

We are celebrating freedom.

私たちは自由を謳歌しているのです。

We're celebrating diversity, equality in one studio

一つのスタジオで多様性と平等を祝う

and I wish it wasn’t just inside this studio,

it was in the whole world.

全世界にあったのです。

I have a tattoo saying "believe" and it's like a note to...

I'd wake up or when I'm on the train or somewhere

and I look and say "you always have to believe
