A leak of toxic gas has killed two and hospitalised six others at a mine in north west China.
A cyanogen sulphide leak was detected at the factory and a rescue mission began immediately.
The eight affected miners were rushed to hospital, but two of them died on the way.
The cause of the leak is still under investigation.
All the workers in the factory were evacuated and, because the factory is located in a mountain
area and five kilometers away from the nearest village, residents in the country were safe
and were not evacuated.
Inspectors from local environmental departments were testing the air in the factory and will
later release the result.
Cyanogen gas is colourless with a pungent odor. Inhalation can lead to headaches, nausea,
loss of consciousness, convulsions and even death.
