You can tell when the controller's battery is low if you open your Oculus app, go to devices, and click on your controllers. Each controller takes one AA battery. When the battery runs low, look for the arrow on the top of the handle. Slide the battery cover in this direction to remove the cover, like this. Remove the AA battery and replace it with a fresh one. Slide the cover back on until it clicks firmly into place. To avoid buying lots of AA batteries, you could purchase rechargeable ones. By keeping two batteries fully charged on standby, you can swap out the low-power batteries and replace with the fully charged ones whenever you need. You can purchase the Anker Charging Dock separately. The Anker Charging Dock comes with new controller covers which utilize rechargeable batteries, allowing you to recharge the controllers and the headset at the same time whenever they're plugged in to the dock. A link for the dock is listed in the description below.
