In this video, we will show you
how multiplayer works in Elden Ring.
Use our clickable sections below to keep track
of what step you're on during this tutorial.
Before starting multiplayer, keep in mind
that Elden Ring does not support cross-platform multiplayer
but does support cross-generation consoles.
It also does not support offline or local multiplayer,
so an internet connection is necessary.
To play multiplayer in Elden Ring,
a couple of in-game items are necessary.
To be summoned into someone else's world,
you will need an item called Tarnished's Furled Finger.
This will allow you to place
a gold summon sign on the ground,
and other players can call you into their world.
The Tarnished's Furled Finger can be found
very early on in the game in the starting area.
To be the one summoning other players into your world,
you will need an item called Furlcalling Finger Remedy.
This item can be purchased from merchants
or crafted using the crafting kit
and a material called erdleaf flowers found in the game.
Using the remedy will show you signs of other players
that can be summoned into your world.
Passwords can be set in the multiplayer menu of the game
if you only want specific players to summon you
and vice versa.
To participate in player-versus-player combat,
called invasions, you'll need different items.
To be summoned into other worlds for PVP,
you'll need a Duelist's Furled Finger.
This can be found outside the colosseum
above Warmaster's Shack next to a ghostly figure.
It can be found here on the map.
This will let you put a red sign on the floor
that potential combatants can use to summon you.
To invade others,
you'll need a Festering Bloody Finger.
The consumable item can be easily purchased
from merchants in the game.
This will let you pick a random player's world to invade
as a hostile combatant.
There are a few restrictions placed on players
in multiplayer. You cannot use a mount
and also cannot explore the entire world freely.
