OK, let's talk about 11 things we've grown to love here in Japan. 1個目は "家の中で靴を脱ぐ" 習慣です Number 1, taking off shoes in the house 玄関で靴を脱ぐと 家を清潔に保てます The house stays so much cleaner when everyone just takes their shoes off right in the entryway いい習慣 And it's just nice. ♪ 靴を脱ごう ♪ [Singing] and the shoes go off! アメリカで 屋内で靴を履いていると 落ち着きません And when we go back to America, it's always so weird to go into homes and you're walking on carpet and have your shoes on "おっと!" It's just like "Whoa!" 2個目は Alright, number 2, drumroll... "日本のトイレ" The Japanese toilets. 特にネイトね That's mostly you That's mostly me. ウォシュレットが大好きです I love the Washlets, oh my goodness! 初めて使った時 日本のトイレに感動しました Once I started using them it was game over, they're the best, Japan makes the best toilets. 帰国すると恋しいです And whenever I travel, I miss them. 日本に帰ると トイレで落ち着きます I do! I can't wait until I get home and I'm like "Yeah! Alright, I'm back!" カフェの物件を下見します So today is the day we take possession of our brand new building ジョシュア! Hey Mister! What's up Dude?! ここがカフェになります Whoa! This are over here is going to be the Cafe... 奥がステージ And then down on that side here is going to be our stage... 広いトイレです Large bathroom... 多機能のトイレです This toilet has more options than just about anything... 流す量は2種類 You have a regular flush, a light flush... ストップ Stop, for the rear, for the front, ladies... おしり Privacy — music — just in case you're making too much noise ビデ You can turn up the volume, you can turn up the pressure, プライバシー Wand sanitizing... 音楽 And if all else fails, you can call for help. Oh, let's not call for help! 音楽でカバー出来ます Alright, and speaking of things that Japan has perfected, it's not just the toilet, but it's the whole bathing experience... 音量や水量を調整出来ます It's onsens 消毒 Oh! Our whole family loves a good onsen 緊急時のボタン We do, and they have awesome public ones that you go to, men go on one side and women on the other side ダメだよ! You get changed right here, and after you get changed you come over here... 日本で最高な体験といえば これでしょう You shower off. Japanese always shower off before entering the onsen. 温泉です! And then right here you take the top off and enjoy! 家族みんな大好き You can go outside, you can be inside, they—oh my goodness—have all kinds of amazing things that we just love 男湯と女湯に分かれています And even at home, the way that they do it ここで着替えて 浴場に行きます They have the toilet and the bathroom separated, まずは体を洗って その後でお風呂に入ります So that when you're getting clean, you're getting clean and when you're doing your business, you're somewhere else. お風呂を楽しみます Well, we're heading down to the onsen now, 温泉には露天風呂や 様々な種類があります I don't know how much I'll be able to show because, well, you get in naked... 家庭にも風呂文化があり トイレと風呂は分かれています Girls and guys take turns so that they're not in at the same time, 風呂場は清潔で 入浴を楽しめます But tonight there are no girls here, 温泉に向かっています So it should be cool to have some onsen time 裸で入るので 撮影はダメかもしれません This is the onsen that we were just in and oh! It just feels so good after a whole day of hiking. 男女で時間が分かれていますが 今夜は女性がいないので Alright, number 4 here it is ゆっくり楽しめそうです Pedestrian transportation in Japan, especially in the big cities, is phenomenal. 登山の後の温泉は最高です! You got the trains that are great, everything is so compact so it makes it very easy to walk everywhere, ride your bike 4個目はこれです It's just very convenient for getting around everywhere on foot. "徒歩でのアクセスの良さ" Number 5 was inspired by Ruth and when she said it I was like "Oh yes, this is right!" 大都市は特に優れています It's great parks and hiking paths. 公共交通が優れているので 大抵徒歩で移動できます In every neighborhood you can pretty much find a park 車が無くても便利です And it's so great, because it doesn't really matter where you live, there's going to be a park closely 5個目はルースのアイディアです And it's just a great space for the kids to play in after school and run off with their energy "公園の多さと緑の豊かさ" And one thing that I discovered that I really like here is hiking どの住宅地にも 複数の公園が整備されています And there are a lot of great paths. There's one around our river. 放課後の子供達に 理想的な遊び場です There's always ones around the seashore or the mountains, ハイキングも素晴らしいです There's just great hiking everywhere 沢山のコースがあり 我が家の近所にもあります We have some videos on here about hiking near Mt Fuji that are great, 海岸沿いや山に 沢山のハイキングコースがあります And down Japan's deepest canyon, that was quite a hike, my goodness. 富士山麓でのエピソードがあります Number 6, Mamachari! We love our little electric bike. 黒部峡谷のエピソードも 楽しかったです We did we wait so long to discover how great Mamacharis are? 6個目は "ママチャリ" 我が家にもあります Well, because we had twins and I couldn't take the same size of kids in the front and in the back. ママチャリの良い所は? But then when Sarah started kindergarten and I only had one kid to transport, then I got our Mamachari. 実は最初の双子の時は 乗せるのが難しかったから What do you have here? サラが幼稚園に入ってから 私はママチャリを買ったの This is my mamachari. これは? It's very nice because I can put Joshua in the front, 私のママチャリ And we actually fight over who gets to hold the handle bars because he thinks he should drive it. ジョシュアは前に座る And then Sarah sits back here. ジョシュアはハンドルを 取りたがるけど To get it started I have to first unlock it. サラは後ろ Unlocked. まずはロックを解除 Turn on the on button. 解除 It's on automatic. オンにする And to charge the battery, you have to take it off, take it inside and plug it in. オートマチック Pretty much, I get on and I go. バッテリーは 取り外して充電する Hey guys! Oh my goodness, what are you doing? あとは乗るだけ! Are you driving the bike, Joshua? みんな!何してるの? Yeah, we fight for hand space. Ringing the bell? ジョシュアが運転? Jingle bells. Jingle bells all the way! - ハンドルの奪い合い - ベルを鳴らした? Oh boy, that is convenient... Have we used it! ジングルベルみたいだ! Number 7 is convenient stores in Japan 最高に便利だね This is another thing that Japan has perfected, I would say. 7個目は "コンビニ" Is they took the idea of 7-11 in the US and then they made it a lot better. 日本発祥のサービスです Look at this view here, just gorgeous. ルーツはアメリカですが 日本で形になりました Thanks to the 7 Eleven 良い眺めです I have my coffee. I got a good drone flight in. Now its time to head back to the camp. セブン最高! What makes it so handy here? Oh, you can do everything at the convenience store. コーヒーを飲んだら キャンプ場に戻ります I pay our bills there, I buy stamps there, - 何が便利? - 何でも出来るわ I buy tickets for Disney there, well before the pandemic... 請求書の支払いや切手 Make all our photocopies, print photos, buy snacks and buy meals ディズニーのチケットも買える Quick "combini" lunch today with Mr Potato Head it looks like... and the girlfriend. コピーに写真の印刷 ご飯も買える I mean, it's just endless possibilities... Take out money from the bank there! コンビニ飯でランチ Yes! That's where we go to get our money, yep. ポテトヘッドと奥さん Number 8, if you know our family, you know we love conveyor belt sushi! - 何でも出来る! - ATMも! One of our first stops for our foreign travelers... conveyor belt sushi. 引出しはコンビニだね Very important in Japan for society. 8個目は "回転寿司" 我が家も大好きです! The sushi that comes out on the conveyor belt, you pick it up, you can order it by tapping on the iPad. 来日中の家族と 回転寿司に来ました This is some of the good stuff... tuna! 日本といえば回転寿司です! When you put your dishes in you put them in here with the dirty dishes. タブレットで注文すると 寿司がベルトで運ばれてきます And when you put in 5, you can play a game and you can win something. 美味しそうなマグロ! Up here at the top. お皿をここに入れて But we do love our conveyor belt sushi, something we would miss if we weren't here. Definitely 5皿入れると ゲームが出来る Number 9 — Ruth san! Momma chan! Oh ¥100 stores! この画面で! What would I do without my ¥100 stores?! I love them! I buy a lot of stuff at them. 我が家はとにかく 回転寿司が大好きです So this is one of my favorite stores to come to because, for one thing, I can afford everything. Ha ha! 9個目は ルースが大好き "100円ショップ" Also there's so many useful and unique things to Japan that I find here. 100円ショップが無い生活は 想像出来ない! Right now it's halloween. I don't decorate for halloween, I decorate for fall. お気に入りのお店です お財布に優しいの! But it's great because you can buy these little bags for candies and for plates, 便利で面白い商品も沢山あります And they have — oh — cookie cutters. ハロウィンの商品 秋にいいですね But I love the pumpkin, I'm not a huge ghost fan. キャンディを詰める袋に 可愛いお皿 I wish they sold just the pumpkin, actually I might just buy this because I like the pumpkin. クッキーの型 OK I might buy it. お化けは嫌いだけど パンプキンが可愛いから迷うわ And they even sell live plants. Look, you can buy tiny little cactuses, 買っちゃおう So cute! 植物も売っています 可愛いサボテン! But one thing we do buy a ton of here is pencils and markers and erasers 可愛い! Look at this! Who can resist all this glitter tape — for a dollar?! よく買うのは 鉛筆とマーカーと消しゴム And then I buy a lot of stuff down this aisle. このキラキラテープ 全部で100円! It's all paper supplies and I do crafts with the kids この通路は ペーパークラフトのコーナー And all the origami papers and box cutters and scissors and mats and tape and play doh and... 折り紙やボックスカッター Markers and paint! はさみやマット テープに粘土 Oh my goodness! マーカーと絵の具! We have a couple of videos on this channel about that — check them out! すごい! Alright, number 10 we haven't been able to do the last couple of years because it's the seasonal festivals. 100円ショップのエピソードも お見逃しなく! Japan has awesome seasonal festivals, each community has some sort of festival and usually its unique for some sort of reason... 10個目は "お祭り" コロナ禍で少ないのが残念です But a lot of times they'll have a matsuri, a festival, they'll have fireworks at night and it's just—oh! 日本には季節毎にお祭りがあり 地域の特色があります We all ready for fireworks guys? Yeah!! お祭りによっては 夜に花火も上がります How is it? Ah, it's so good! - 花火の準備は? - うん! Salty. Salty but good. - どう? - 美味しい! What are you eating?! Popcorn. - しょっぱい - でも美味しそう Are we ready for it to start big guy? Yes? Yea. - 何食べてる? - ポップコーン During COVID they've been really restricted a lot, so we're looking forward to getting back and seeing a lot more of those. もうすぐ花火だよ! Yea, because street food at those matsuris, they're ridiculously expensive but oh so yummy. コロナ禍で大変ですが お祭りが戻ってくるのを期待しています Our little local ones are not so expensive, I always buy like the Yakisoba and stuff when it's at our park, 屋台の食べ物は 高いけど美味しいわ! But the bigger matsuris, you can [really] pay for your food, but it's so worth it. 地元のお祭りだと高くないわね 焼きそばが好き That was awesome Dude! 大きなお祭りでは高いかも でも美味しい! Spider webs? Yeah, like spiders! すごいね! They're pretty! Oh! There's a whole lot of them! - クモの巣? - クモみたい! Wow! A lot of them! Dude! Was that the best so far? 綺麗だね! A number 11 is the Sakura, the Cherry-Blossom Blooming time. すごかったね! This in Japan is something awesome. 今までで一番? In our part of Tokyo here it happens at the end of March, early April — but it's just beautiful. 11個目は "桜" です And Japan, as a nation, they love Sakura so you can find it all over the place. 日本の春の象徴 And it is just something special when it comes. 東京では3月下旬から4月が見頃 息を呑む美しさです It's beautiful. 日本中で桜を見る事が出来ます Everyone gets out, they take a bento, a picnic with them. 桜は特別です They go out under the Sakura, it's usually starting to get warmer so everyone's tired of the winter and they want to get out 美しい And sakura's coming up here soon, we're excited for it. みんなでお花見をします We want to show you some more great places here in Japan, 天気も暖かくなる 最高の時期です Discover some more sakura places 今年の桜も楽しみです!
