Today's video has been a long time in the making, and when I say a long time, I mean a very, very long time.

And by a long time I don't just mean weeks.

I don't just mean months.

I mean, quite literally well, over a year.

So last year I posted a Brandy Melville hall, and in that hall I was comparing a lot of the clothes from Brandy Melville to clothes that you could very easily find at a thrift store.

Now, I have a lot of thoughts in regards to Brandy Melville as a brand, and I recommend that you check out that video.

Maybe before you watch this one, because I kind of want to pre face this with my thoughts about the brand and their inclusivity in sizing and things like that, and also their price point and all that.

But a quick like T L D.

R is basically that I had heard about Brandy Melville, but I didn't really know much about it.

I just heard the name a lot, and I was holidaying in Hawaii and I walked past the Brandy Melville store and I thought, Oh, lots of people have been leaving comments about that brand.

I'll buy some stuff.

So I bought a whole bunch of things and I came home, and when I was going to upload the video about it, I did a bit of research.

I kind of realized that they really only cater to a very, very small size category.

They say one size fits most, most like toddlers.

Maybe they're sizing is very small, and also their stuff is kind of pricey, too.

And it's not the best quality for what they're charging.

And I had a lot of thoughts, so check out the video if you haven't already.

But basically, in that video, as I was trying the items on, I would be like, Oh, this is a nice cute T shirt but I feel like I've seen this at a thrift store before or I put on a pair of pants and be like I paid $60 for these.

But I know I've seen these pants at a thrift store for $5 and that inspired me to want to go thrift ng for Brandy Melville style clothes.

So when I went to Japan at the end of last year in December, I think it was.

I challenged myself to try and buy a bunch of clothes, just like what they sell on Brandy Melville.

So I basically wrote a little list for myself, and I was like, I need corduroy pants.

I need a striped T shirt.

I need a crew neck T shirt.

I need a total dick.

You know, I wrote a list and I tried to find all of those things at thrift stores, and while I didn't find exactly everything that I wanted, I got really, really close.

So in today's video, I have a pile here of Brandy Melville clothing and drifted clothing.

All of the clothing in this pile I bought in Japan another bit cost me more than $10.

Most of it was between five and 10, like my big rule was, I didn't want to pay any more than $10 for the clothing.

Now I don't have all of the prices on everything because in Japan One of the things that they do when you buy it thrift stores, they always snip off the prices and then they keep the price tags.

I think that they recycle them.

Japan's really big on recycling, so they kept all of the price tags.

So I don't have the exact price tags for every item.

But my rule when I was shopping was that I wasn't gonna pay more than $10.

So everything I show you that shifted is under $10.

Now the stores that I shop that I will put some links below about the thrift stores that I like to visit when I'm in Japan.

Obviously, no one's gonna be used to traveling there for a little while.

But hey, you can write a list of the places that you want to go to one day when we can all travel safely again.

So with that, let's finally try on these clothes that have literally been sitting in a suitcase for a year.

Yes, I am a professional procrastinator.

Wait, wait.

Before I do, I need to show you something.

Look, Yeah, I drifted this today.

Isn't it glorious?

$40 for this beautiful corner shelf.

And the reason that I got it.

If you saw my video about decorating my guest bedroom using only thrift ID items.

I The one thing that I was missing was a shelf for this corner over here, so I was using this, like K mart shelf.

But I have a gifted one now.

Oh, look at that.

Fit like a finger in the nose.

Mm.

All right.

So I'm starting this off in the easiest way possible with this top from Brandy Melville.

This is pretty simple.

A black T shirt with stripes, the sleeves underneath.

Now this top is all in one.

The long sleeves are sewn into the cropped tee.

And look, this is literally the easiest look to thrift because no matter what thrift store you go into, you're always going to find a black T shirt.

Always.

And finding stripey long sleeve shirts is very, very easy to.

So here's the thrift ID version literally doesn't get much simpler than this.

So the T shirt is actually a very, very long T shirt.

I just tied it up at the back to make it look like a crop.

And to be 100% honest, this is 10 times more comfortable than the brandy one.

This top underneath is actually from Uniqlo's Japan and it is so soft.

It's beautiful to wear.

And look, this is This is just a plain T shirt, which is a black T shirt, and it was literally 100 years.

That's a dollar.

If this is your aesthetic, you know, you know you can thrift it.

All right, So this next top, I did think that I would have a little bit of an easier time finding something like this at a thrift store.

This is the Brandy Melville top, and I love this one.

I wear it all the time.

It's a colored button up shirt, and I know that I've seen white shirts like this in through stores in Australia.

But I couldn't find something exactly like this in Japan.

But what I did find was this.

Now this is a shirt that's made in Japan, and it feels lovely.

Obviously, the buttons don't go all the way to the bottom like what the brandy one did.

But it does still have that same color.

So you get that same sort of look.

The brandy one was obviously like cropped, and it was also quite tight.

So this is Look, I feel like this would be a pretty easy thrift flip if I wanted to turn this into a crop top like the Brandy one, but I actually really like the relaxed fit.

It's much more comfortable for me to wear a shirt like this than a cropped one that shows my belly button.

So this might not be my aesthetic or my personal vibe to wear something like this, but it does seem right up the brandy Melville Ali and there were so many tops like this at the store.

There was literally a rack of button up Colin T shirts, and they came in all different colors, too.

I just didn't find white one.

I would have been very happy if I found a white one.

But look, let's not get too specific.

I don't need to go exactly.

Item for item.

I'm just trying to get the general vibe, and like this sort of top, it's all over Brandy Melville.

It's all over their instagram account.

Very easy to thrift, something like this to all right, bear with me here.

This is the point in the video where you need to put on your abstract thinking caps because I couldn't find a cropped stripey t shirt in Japan.

I looked very hard.

I looked in like 10 different thrift stores, and I couldn't find exactly what I wanted.

But I did find this, and I know that it's obviously not pink and white, and it's not a T shirt.

It's eternal neck.

But you get the point right.

Like I was 15 for something that was colorful and stripey and cropped, and I found it.

This was $5 500 yen, so technically, like $7.

But like $5 the Brandy Melville cropped T shirt was $20.

So, like nearly $30 and this is so much nicer, this is beautiful fabric.

It's really, really warm, super cozy.

I really like the lettuce trim around the neckline, and it's got lettuce trim around here, too.

This is just so adorable.

I'm so happy.

And this is super brandy to like, literally cropped striped with jeans, big brandy vibes red.

So on the topic of cropped and striped, this Brandy Melville top was $25.

While I tried to do something like this, I couldn't find exactly this color scheme or anything, but I got pretty close.

This was another $5 thrift ID item, and the reason that I picked this as the comparison for that top is because this just like that, Top has the same sort of color, and it's got buttons running all the way down.

This is beautiful.

I can't even begin to explain, like how luxurious the fabric is.

It's got ribbed sleeves and they're super super stretchy.

It's so comfortable, and it feels very, very well made.

This is another item that's made in Japan.

The brand is written in Japanese, so I can't tell you what it is.

But I got this for $5 and this is literally 1000 times nicer than any item from Brandy Melville.

It's exactly the same sort of vibes, though.

There's 100 items on Brandy Melville that are this sort of style, whether they're long sleeve or short sleeve Button up where you can wear them fully buttoned up, we can where it's slightly unbuttoned, which is the more casual Vibe that they give off at Brandy Melville.

But this was so easy to find literally one of the first stores that I walked into.

They had a sale rack where everything was 500 yen and this was one of the items.

And when I picked it up, I was like If that was on Brandy Melville, that would be like $50 because it's made so well.

It's lovely.

And so far in this video, at least I think that the thrift stores are taking a giant dump on our friend Brandy.

Now, one of my favorite items from my brandy Melville hall is this top.

I have worn this a lot.

This is a ribbed.

What do you call this crop to?

Long sleeve?

Tee tee, long sleeve?

It's not a cardigan.

Anyway.

You can you can literally see what it is.

I don't need to tell you what it is.

So this one.

I wear this a lot from Brandi, and I think that this was like $35 from memory, and what I found to try to replicate it was this.

Now I know that this isn't it's not even like the same thing at all.

The other thing was like a V neck with long sleeves and didn't button up.

And this is obviously like a cardigan that literally has like a little clasp here holding it together.

But the reason that I picked this is because it's pink And it's ribbed.

And also I know that I've seen cardigans like this on Brandy Melville.

You know, the ones where they will just, like, tie it up just here with, like, a little bow or something.

Now, this this was the only item that still had its tag on.

This is from mode off, and it was 300.

Um, this top is delightful, like it's got these beautiful sleeves.

They're kind of like frilly around here.

It's got a really, really nice sort of frilly neckline like this, and the frills continue all the way down here.

And it's so soft and it's super super super.

Look how stretchy it is.

It's super stretchy.

It's so comfortable.

And the color the color is adorable.

I pick this shade of pink over this shade of pink any day, and I'm gonna pair this top with this skirt.

Now this good is supposed to be the equivalent of this good.

I wear this good a lot, and actually, I worry about the Japanese food recently and I spilled soy sauce on it.

so that's good is currently in the wash right now, but that's definitely one of my favorite purchases from Brandy Melville.

I think it's so pretty, and I managed to thrift this one For $2.

I got this at don don down in Shibuya, which is a really cool for a store that basically gives different prices every day.

The full name of the store is down, down, down on Wednesday because on Wednesday that's when everything is the cheapest.

So I went on a Wednesday and I got this skirt for 200 yen.

This skirt is absolutely glorious.

It's got a really nice thick slip underneath it already built in.

It's got these really cute buttons on the back.

I don't know if you'll be able to see.

Can you see?

The buttons are like What makes it super special to me?

I think they're really cute.

It's really flowy and so comfortable and a nice length, and it's it's really, really nice and high on my waste up here, and it creates a really nice silhouette and I love it.

This is one of my favorite thrift ID things.

Long skirts with flowers like little teeny tiny flowers on them.

I just I love them so much.

And this skirt was such a find.

And I think it's even better than the brandy one because the brandy one was very, very thin.

This one is super thick, literally a fraction of the price.

The same sort of style still looks really nice with the same top.

This is the top that I paired with the brandy skirt.

I think they really nailed it with this one.

All right, so these pink corduroy pants from Brandy Melville were one of my favorite things that I got in that video.

These were kind of expensive.

I don't remember the exact number, but I think there were, like, $50 or something.

And I know I've often seen corduroy pants when I've gone through shopping, but I didn't expect to find corduroy pants as good as the ones that I shout.

The brand only says American Rag, and these were $10.

I remember specifically, they were $10 because I thought, Oh, these are the most expensive thing for my video There, 10 bucks.
