As steam rose from the river and the sun broke the horizon of the next day, 平日の運動会だね a group of Japanese elementary school students, sisters, waited for the glorious moment that would soon be there's. 残念! Girls, today is a big day. What is the day today? 残念! Sports day. Sports day. これから運動会です Are you excited Sarah? Yeah. コロナのせいで いつもと少し違います It's on a school day this time huh? この学校だけ Not cool. What in the world. Not cool. 平日なので保護者が少ないです Not cool, not cool. グループに分けて 分散して開催します We are on our way to the sports day. 対戦相手が少ないです This year, because of corona, its a little different. 日本の運動会は 楽しい行事です! Just our school. いつもは全校総出で 様々な競技を行います Yeah, just our school. It's on a weekday of all days, so there might not be a lot of parents there. 今年は規模が小さく 試合といった雰囲気です And the kids do it at different times so that's actually kind of cool. それでも楽しいです! If you've never seen a Japanese sport day, or undoukai, then it's something to behold! その日の午後 ベッカとアナ 最後の運動会を見てきました Normally they divide the whole school up into opposing teams and have a number of different competitions to determine a winner. 二人は幼稚園から6年生まで 日本の教育を受けてきました But this year they're doing it a bit different and will not have a large competition, but more of a sports event. 親より日本語が流暢な 日英バイリンガルです It's still fun to watch though! まだ伸びるでしょう Yay Sarah, go, go, go. 最後の運動会に 相応しい晴天でした Later the same day, we came back to watch Becca and Anna in their final elementary school sports day! 最後とは信じられないです! It's almost hard to believe, but the girls have truly grown up in Japan, starting Japanese kindergarten over seven years ago. 特別な運動会だったね どうだった? They speak Japanese better than any of us and are able to enjoy the best of both worlds. ずっとしゃがんでいた For them, the sky is the limit! 体育の授業も少ない We were blessed with perfect weather, and before you knew it, the sports days was done. アナ! It's hard to believe this was their last one here. アナも頑張ったね! Beckster. That was a pretty freaking cool sports day. What did you think about it? - 沢山踊ったね - 叫んだの分かった? Squatting the whole time. - そう? - そうだよ But, now that we're done, yes, but now we don't have that much P.E. 私も Anna! There's Anna. 沢山のドミノです Anna, you did a good job too! 倒さないで!
