And in this video, I'm going to teach you a very important English word.

そして今回のビデオでは、とても重要な英単語を教えます。

Now everybody in Korea should know this word because it gets this way every summer in Korea, right?

韓国では毎年夏になるとこのようになるので、韓国人なら誰もがこの言葉を知っているはずですよね。

Well, not just in the summer, but also in some other seasons.

夏だけでなく、他の季節にもあります。

And that word that we're going to learn today is humid, again, humid.

そして、今日習うその言葉は、繰り返しになりますが、humidです。

So this word you need to know it.

だから、この言葉は知っておかなければならない。

And you especially need to mention this word when you describe Korea's weather to any foreigners.

そして、外国人に韓国の天気を説明するときには、特にこの言葉を口にする必要があります。

Okay, so if they ask, what's the weather like in Korea, you have to say humid.

なるほど、韓国の天気はどうかと聞かれたら、湿度が高いと答えなければなりませんね。

Well, what does humid mean?

湿度が高いとはどういうことか？

Well again, Humid is used to describe whether it means that it's very wet and hot, right?

また、Humidは「とても湿っていて暑い」という意味で使われますよね。

You know what I mean?

わかるかな？

So even my best friend, she comes to Korea every year from Southern California, which is where I'm from, and she complains about this all the time.

私の親友も、毎年南カリフォルニアから韓国に来ているのですが、いつもこのことで文句を言っています。

It's so humid, right?

湿度が高いんですよね。

It's so hot and wet and she complains about this because where we're from, it's not like that.

私たちの出身地では、このようなことはありません。

It's hot, but it doesn't get very humid.

暑いですが、あまり湿度が高くならないのが特徴です。

So let's look at the board for some examples on how to use the word Okay, so here it is.

では、Okayという言葉の使い方の例をボードで見てみましょう、それではどうぞ。

Today is very humid.

今日はとても湿度が高い。

Today is very humid, so that's the word I want to teach you today.

今日はとても湿度が高いので、その言葉を教えてあげたいと思います。

Humid.

湿度が高い。

But there are some other ways to say the same thing.

しかし、同じことを言うにしても、他の言い方もあります。

Instead of humid, we can say a couple of other words.

humidの代わりに、他にもいくつかの言葉を使うことができます。

For example, we can say today is very muggy.

例えば、今日はとても蒸し暑いと言えます。

Today is very muggy.

今日はとても蒸し暑いです。

Okay.

なるほど。

McGee means humid again, hot and wet.

McGeeとは、Humid again、暑くて湿っているという意味です。

We can also say today is very sticky.

また、今日は非常に粘り強いと言えます。

Today is very sticky, so humid, muggy and sticky.

今日はとてもベタベタしていて、湿度が高く、蒸し暑く、ベタベタしています。

All have the same meaning.

すべて同じ意味です。

When you're describing the weather now, I told you that where I'm from, it's not humid.

今の天気を説明しているときに、私の出身地では湿度が高くないと言いました。

It's hot, but it's not humid.

暑いですが、湿度は高くありません。

So what's the opposite of humid?

では、湿度が高いことの反対は何か？

That word is dry, so if it's not humid, I can say today is very dry.

その言葉はドライなので、湿度が高くなければ、今日はとてもドライだと言えます。

Today is very dry.

今日はとても乾燥しています。

Okay, well, let's look at some more example.
