Today, we're going to discover ten fantastic ways to say somebody is happy without using the same old word, "Happy".

I mean, I like the word happy, but there are better ways to describe being happy.

Alright, so, how do we first say that we are happy?

"Over the moon".

「Over the moon」

If you are over the moon, then you are just really, really happy.

So, for example, I might use this if I say I've just got a new job.

I'm absolutely over the moon; I'm so happy.

Of course, you could just be pleased; you're very happy about something, you're pleased.

If you're on cloud nine, you would be floating up very, very high.

You would be blissfully calm and satisfied and content.

And, so, to be on cloud nine is just to be euphoric with happiness.

Similar to on cloud nine, you might say, "I'm 'walking on air'."

Ah, I feel like I'm walking on air.

It's when you feel so content and relieved that you feel light in your body.

If you're really enjoying yourself, perhaps at work or at the funfair or at a party or dinner, then you could say that "I'm having a 'whale of a time'."

I'm having a whale of a time.

「I'm having a whale of a time」

I guess that means that you're having a big, happy time because whales are big.

Now if something has been irritating you or annoying you for a long time and finally, it's over.

If you're wearing a big smile because you're very happy, then other people might say, "You look 'like the cat that got the cream'."

You look like the cat that got the cream.

I can't purr, but you know what I mean; a cat with cream is very happy.
