[COFFE AND PLANTS (コーヒー アンド プランツ)| カリフォルニア州パサデナ]

We are in old town Pasadena at a coffee shop called Coffee and Plants.

私たちが来ているのは旧市街地パサデナのコーヒーショップ 　COFFE AND PLANTS (コーヒー アンド プランツ)さんです

We got here first thing in the morning when they opened at... I believe they opened at eight o'clock, that's when we got here. - Yeah, they opened at eight.

朝一で このお店の開店時間に来ました　確か 8 時開店だったと思うんだけど　そのタイミングで来ました　そうそう、開店は 8 時でしたね

But we brought the dogs here, because it's dog-friendly.

私たち飼い犬を連れて来たんです　ここは犬連れOKのお店なんですよ

Even this town is old Pasadena, right? It is a dog friendly town. - Yes.

このパサデナ旧市街地で？ですよね？ 犬に優しい街なんです　- そう

- So they have a lot of establishments where you can bring your dog with you, so it's perfect for us because, if you've been watching our videos, we love bring our dogs everywhere with us.

パサデナには犬を連れていける施設がたくさんあるので　私たちにはもってこいなんです　私たちの動画を見てきた人なら私たちがどこにでも犬を連れて行くのが好きなのを知ってますよね

- Yeah, and they even had a water bowl out for the dogs, so that was really nice and I know they just opened so I knew the water was fresh.

- そう、このお店の外には犬の水入れもあって すごく良かったです　開店したばかりだから水が新しいって分かってたし

- Oh yeah, and then Captain, Candy's new puppy, loves water. - He loves water.

- ほんとに　あと、キャプテンっていうキャンディーのところに来たばかりの子犬がお水が大好きで　- あの子 かなり水好きだね

- He's obsessed with waters!

- 水に取りつかれてるから！

- So he was like, oh my gosh, this is heaven, it's water!

- もう「うわ～ 天国だ！水だ！」みたいな感じでした

- He's already like been back to that bowl like several times.

- もう何回も水入れのところに行ってますね

It's just water. - Just water.

ただの水なんですけどね　- ただの水なんです

- He's very easy to entertain or please. - Yeah.

- すごく簡単に楽しんでくれるし、喜んでくれる子です　- そう

But this coffee shop is super adorable. Everything is kind of like a pink theme...

とにかく、このコーヒーショップは超かわいいんです　ぜんぶピンク系で…

- Pink theme with green, obviously for the plants, yeah.

- ピンクがテーマでグリーンがあって　もちろん植物のグリーンです

- And as the name implies, the "Coffee and Plants", there's plants here too.

- そして「コーヒー アンド プランツ」の名の通り、植物も置いてるんです

- And you can also purchase plants here.

- 購入することもできます

- Yeah, and they have the really cute plants in the pink planters, which is so cute.

- そうなんです　すごくかわいらしい植物がピンクのプランターに植わっていて、それがまたメチャかわいいんです

If I lived here, I would definitely buy some.

この街で暮らすなら　絶対に買いますね

- As one of those things, you just like, "It's so tiny and cute! I got to buy it."

- 見たら「めっちゃ小さくてかわいい！これは買わなきゃ」ってなりますよ

- But I mean, yeah, it's really nice decorated.

- でも本当に すごく素敵なインテリア

They have lots of photo ops around here too , for you and your dogs.

写真を撮るのに絶好のポイントがたくさんあるんです　皆さんにもワンちゃんにとってもね

- Yeah, and there's space to sit, both indoors and outdoors.

- 座るところもあるんですよ　店内にも外にも

But we obviously, we have the pups with us so we sat outdoors and it's in a beautifully shaded area.

でもほら、私たち子犬を連れてきてたから外の席に座りました　外はパラソルが並ぶ きれいなゾーンになっています

Um, even it's like in an alley. - Yeah.

路地裏って感じかな　- そう

- So we kind of missed it when we first drove by.

- だから初めて車で来た時は見逃しちゃって

We were like, "Where is it!?"

「どこなの !?」って感じでした

So we did another, um, we had to turn around cause it's a one way street.

なので別の方から…、一方通行なのでぐるっと回ることになっちゃって

And finally I was like, looking into the alleys, and it was inside the alley, nice and shaded. Because right now it's like super sunny, and it's summer.

最後に路地裏を覗いたら　中の方にお店があったんです　いい感じに日陰があって　今なんかもすごく日が照ってるし、夏なんですけど

So if we were in the sun, I think we'd be dying right now.

日差しの中にいたら　今頃きっと死んでますね

So this is fantastic that it's like a nice shaded alley.

だから ここは最高です　日陰のある素敵な路地裏なんです

And the alleys are pretty wide, so you don't feel like, really like, claustrophobic I guess, like if you're not into like sitting in alleys.

通りの幅も広いから 窮屈な感じもしないですよ　裏通りで座るのが嫌な人も大丈夫だと思います

- Yeah, no, it's nice. It's not too crowded.

- ほんとうにそう　素敵ですよ　混雑し過ぎてなくて

Right now It's what? It's nine o'clock, so it has been opening for an hour.

今は何時？ 9 時ね　開店して1 時間ですね

- They have a steady flow of people.

- お客の流れは滞っていません

- Yeah, they do! It's very popular I think for, you know, a weekday — oops! The table, I've turned a little bit.

- ほんとに！　すごく人気のお店なんだと思う　だって平日に　あらら…テーブルちょっと動かしちゃった

And I mention parking because, they do have street parking, but it's meter parking, and you have to use coins.

駐車スペースのこともお伝えしますね　路上駐車場があるんですけど、メーター式の駐車場なので小銭が必要になります

- Yeah it's old school meter parking.

- そう、昔ながらのメーター式駐車場

- Apparently in Pasadena — Old town Pasadena — they did not change this, so you still have to use coins to pay for street parking.

- どうもパサデナ、旧市街地パサデナは駐車場を新しいものにしなかったみたいですね　だから今でも路上駐車場を使うのに小銭が要るんです

- Yeah, like in the main area with the shopping areas, there are credit card operated street parking, but apparent — well looks like in this area still, like on the edge of old town base, they still haven't changed that so, if you bring coins, you will have plenty of parking around here.

- うん　ショッピング街の中心とかならクレジットカードが使える路上駐車場があるんですけど、でもこの辺はまだ…、旧市街の端の方はまだ昔のままみたいです　小銭があれば使える駐車場はたくさんあると思いますよ

So, definitely bring coins if you have coins!

なので、小銭があったら忘れずに持って来てくださいね！

- If you don't, like us, then they do have public parking garages, but they're kind of expensive.

- 小銭がなかったら…私たちもそうなんですが、立体駐車場もあります　ただ、料金は高いかな

The one that was near here was 2 dollars for every 15 minutes.

ここの近くにあるところだと 15 分刻みで 2 ドル ( 約 220 円 ) でしたね

- And I was like, "Oh no, not paying that!" - Which is pretty hefty.

- 私、「いやいや、そんなに払わないし！」って感じで　- 意志は固かったね

So then we drove around, and there was another one just like a block or two down, that was a dollar for every 20 minutes. A little bit more reasonable!

それで あたりを走って回ってたら、1 つか 2 つ向こうの通りにも駐車場があって、そこは 20 分で 1 ドル (約 110 円)だったんです　ちょっと安いですよね！

- But the max was like $8. - Yeah.

- でも、高いところだと 8 ドル ( 約 890 円 ) とかね　- うん

- Yeah, so another one, the max was much higher.

- そう、もっと高いところもあった

[We later found a parking garage nearby with better rates at Schoolhouse Parking Facility that was free for the first 90 minutes, and $2 each additional hour ($6 max)]

[後日、もっと安い駐車場を見つけました　学校の駐車施設で、最初の 90 分は無料　その後は 1 時間 2 ドル( 最高 6 ドルまで ) です]

So, yeah, just remember to bring coins with you if you want to do some street parking here.

- Which you know that's kind of like, any downtown area you go to, parking is always a thing that's a little bit tricky.

- なんていうか、どこの繁華街でも駐車場っていつも面倒くさいですよね

But Pasadena is pretty good about public parking garages. There's quite a bit around several corners.

でもパサデナは立体駐車場に関してはけっこう良いですよ　けっこう通り沿いにあるんで

So if you kind of drive around and shop around for the best of parking garage space, like you'll... Yeah, that's what we do, we kind of looked around a little bit before. -Yeah, and it's very chill.

だから、車で来て買い物をするのにちょうど良い駐車場を見つけたいなら…　私たちはそうするんですけど、事前に見て回っておくんです　- そうね、あと すごく落ち着いた雰囲気だし

It's not very busy, so you can take your time.- It's not hectic, yeah.

あまり混雑していないから 自分のペースで動けるんです　- そう、目まぐるしくない

- That's how we do. - It's not like New York city, or...

- まぁ、私たちはそんな感じでした　- ニューヨークとは違うし…

As far as their menu, it's mostly coffees and teas, and they do have a puppuccino.

メニューに関しては だいたいコーヒーと紅茶ですね　もちろんパプチーノもあります

Like, she wants the attention so bad! - She loves attention!

この子すっごく注目して欲しいんだね！　- 注目されるの大好きね！

- So sweet! Aww. Oh, you lucky dog, you.

- メチャメチャかわいい！　あぁ、ラッキーだね

All right. So while we were talking, we had a like, pause for a moment, because we actually just met the owner of Coffee and Plants, whose name is AC.

さて、私たちが話している間に ちょっと止めたんです　実は Coffee and Plants のオーナーさんとお会いして　AC さんという方なんですけど

Super sweet. He started explaining everything here and even gave Zooey a puppuccino.

すごくお優しい方で　このお店のことを全部 教えてくれて　ズーイにパプチーノもくださったんです

- Yeah, it was so cute.

- そう、すごく可愛かった

So this puppuccino is actually a coconut whipped cream, and there's a vegan cookie at the bottom of it.

このパプチーノは　ココナツのホイップクリームで、底にヴィーガンクッキーが入ってるんです

He was super sweet. He didn't even say he was the owner or anything.

オーナーさん、超いい人でした　自分がオーナーだとも言わなかったんですよ

- We kind of found out later. We're like, "Wait, are you the owner?"

- 後でオーナーさんだって知ったんです　「待って、オーナーさんなんですか？」って感じでしたね

- Yeah! I just thought he was a regular customer here, because he's like, "Hey, give me a puppuccino!"

- ほんとに！ ここの常連さんなのかと思ってた「ちょっと、パプチーノお願い！」みたいな感じだったから

So Zooey was super happy of course that she got like the special treat.

もうズーイは超ハッピー　特別にごちそうして貰ったようなものなので

So yeah, the puppucino is actually on their menu. It's $3, which usually coffee shops don't charge for puppuccinos, but this place, I get it.

そうなんです　パプチーノはメニューに載っていて　3 ドルするんです　普通のコーヒーショップだとパプチーノは無料なんですけど、ここは なるほどって思いましたね

Like they really put effort into, you know, having healthy treats for puppies, so they do the coconut based whipped cream and a vegan cookie. - And a vegan cookie, yeah.

このお店はすごく力を入れていて、子犬のために健康的な食事を用意しているんです　だからココナツミルクベースのホイップクリームとヴィーガンクッキーを使ってるんですね　- そう、ヴィーガンクッキーね

And everything here is vegan based, so whatever you order, they actually have pastries come from the The Good Good.. What was it? - The Good Good Bakery.

このお店のものは 基本すべてヴィーガンフードで、何を頼んでもそう　The Good Good 何とかって言うところのペイストリー(パイ生地系の食品)を取り扱っているんです　何て名前だった？　- "The Good Good Bakery (ザ・グッド・グッド・ベーカリー)" ね

- Yeah, and she makes all vegan based pastries, and the drinks are too, so, yeah, if you're vegan, this is a fantastic place to come, and even if you're not!

- そう、ヴィーガンペイストリーや飲み物も作っているんです　なので、ヴィーガンの方には このお店は最高ですよ　もちろんヴィーガンではない方もです

- Yeah, and the owner is awesome, he just told us that it opened in December, 2019, so it's like right before the pandemic hit.

- そうね、オーナーも素晴らしい方だし　今聞いたんですが、ここは2019年の12月にオープンしたそう　ちょうどパンデミックが起こる直前かな

So he had... he had struggled a little bit but then, you know, bounced back up, because this place is really popular.

だから、少しの間大変だった大変だったそうで…　でも、盛り返したんですね　すごく人気のお店だし

We keep on seeing people going in and out, people sitting outside, indoors.

ずっと人の出入りがあるし、外にも店内にも座っている人がいます

So definitely stop by here because it's cute.

すごく可愛らしいお店なので、必ずお立ち寄りください

- Super dog friendly, and he has dogs too, and so he understands that you want to take your dog everywhere and take pictures with this.

- ワンちゃんにすごく優しいお店です　オーナーさんも犬を飼っているので　自分の犬を連れて歩きたいとか、一緒に写真を撮りたいとか　そういうの分かってくれるんですね

So yeah, I really like that he's a dog dog owner too!

そう、オーナーさんが犬を飼っているのも すごくいい！

- Yeah. And he said it doesn't have to be a dog. - It could be a cat!

- うん　あと犬じゃなくても大丈夫とのことです　- 猫でも大丈夫って！

- He said he's seen people bring their cats and iguana.

- 飼い猫とかイグアナを連れてきている人もいたそうですよ

- Maybe not a peacock, because he said it takes a lot of room!

- クジャクはダメかもです　場所を取るからって言ってました

- I love this place! It's so adorable. - It's adorable.

- このお店本当に良いです　本当に素敵です　- 素敵だね

- And I love the concept of everything. I love the owner.
