it's usually to go to very very popular  spots

but of course there are many that are lesser known

which are equally if not  more beautiful

being here how many years  now?

videographer, photographer, knows some really cool spots

so today we're starting  at the philosopher's path

we're starting on the south side

and it's gonna  go all the way up north to ginkakuji

or the silver pavilion

and try to take you to  some of the less scene spots of this space

and um especially there's an area called annakuji

that i'm really excited to share with you

私の写真家としての哲学は「枠から外れること」

so my philosophy as a photographer is that i want to  try to think outside the box

and come to these types of places

特にオフシーズンは

but not typically during the peak  season

ピークシーズンとは違った魅力を多く発見できます

i find that you can discover lots of hidden qualities that are interesting in the off  season

通常見えない面ですね

that you wouldn't normally find otherwise

普通皆さんは桜のシーズンにここに来ます

normally here we have the cherry blossoms

春のピークには満開で活気にあふれています

that are just full and vibrant during the peak season in the spring

しかしこのような夏真っ盛りでは

but in the lush summer right now

苔がそこかしこに生え

you  have all this overgrowth and moss

全く違ったクオリティを提供します

and i think that that really introduces a much different quality

多くの写真家がそのクオリティに感謝するでしょう

that i think a lot of other photographers would get in the same space

それなのでいつも慣れ親しんだ場所でも違ったことをしよう、とみんなには伝えます

and so i always kind of  encourage people to try something different in a familiar space

because you can always  discover new things that are a bit more exciting

it's difficult to find a hill in kyoto

but on our  mission to the next location we managed to find it

the next place that we've come to  now was called anurakuji

and this would be the place that you're going to go to

now when you've got a long day of photography

you've gone to all these lovely spots that sandro has shown us

there will come a time when you need  to take a break

and that is what this is for

ここは出町柳

this is Demachiyanagi

これは鴨川デルタで 出町柳です

this is Demachiyanagi at Kamogawa delta

川が街の北側で分かれています

so it's right  where the river splits at the north side of the city

そして街を通り抜けます

and it goes all the way down throughout the  city

鴨川は誰もがリラックスできる美しい場所です

and it's great because the kamagawa is this beautiful place for everyone to relax at

が、デルタのすぐ そばは ピクニックや

but right  at the delta it's a perfect spot for picnics and

家族 連れに最適な場所です

families and stuff

ただしここでピクニックを持っている場合は、

but if you do have a  picnic here you gotta watch out

気をつけなくてはいけません

there are hawks that are always

トンビが常に あなたの食べ物を盗むために回っています

looking to  steal your food

トンビにまつわる事件は私はいくつも体験しました

and that's been the topic of a few funny incidents for me here

very  relaxing

we gotta put our feet in and cool down

and it's uh it's a blast

出町柳で休む時は

when you need  to take a break come to the Demachianagi

and then you'll be energized to get  out there to get those last great shots of the day

日も暮れてきて最後のショットを撮りに行く時間です

once more as the sun fell we got on our  bikes and headed to the final location  

1日の終わりには最高の場所があるとサンドロはいいます

that sandro had thought would be a good place  for us to hit up before ending our day

芸者写真を撮るために京都にやってくる人というのを聞いたことがあると思いますが

if you guys have ever heard of someone coming to kyoto  for the purpose of taking geisha photography  

多くの人は祇園にやってきます

most prominent would be the gion district

非常によく知られており

it's  very well known

それは非常に美しいです

it's very beautiful

が、とても混んでいる

but highly frequented

人が多い

very very busy

今回は町の完全の反対側に来ました

but tonight we're on the  complete opposite side of town

上七軒

at kamishichi ken

京都で最も古い花街。芸者地区ですね

which is the oldest hanamachi or geisha district  in all of kyoto

その理由で町の反対側にあります

and for that reason other side of town

あまり知られておらず

it means that it is far less known

人も少ない

and  far less frequented

高い品質の意味することは非常に静かであること

that kind of hidden quality means that the whole place is very tranquil

建物のデザインもとても謙虚

and  the aesthetics reflect that in a very subdued way

古き町家であることに気づくでしょう

you'll see that most of these buildings are old dark wood Machiya

伝統的な日本家屋

or traditional japanese houses

何世代にも渡ってある地元の商売

and there are local businesses that have  been here for generations

上七軒で最も有名なアイコンは

one of the most iconic uh images though of kamishiken

さりげない提灯

is the inverted  lanterns

祇園では多く見られますが

that the ones you normally see in gion

赤い色に団子の模様

gion you have red lanterns with skewered DANGO

そんなデザイン

or sweet dumplings

しかしここでは白い提灯です

that it's a red lantern with white dumplings on it

白い提灯に赤い団子

but here you  have white lanterns with red dumplings

祇園とのつながりを示しています

and it kind of shows the connection to gion

が、独自の小さなユニークな方法で

but in its  own little unique way

独自のアイデンティティがあります

it's has its own identity

美学について話すと

talking about aesthetic

おそらくあなたが最もはっきりと気づいたのは、私たちが夜ここに来ましたが

probably what you've  noticed most obviously is that we have come here at night

so the idea being and this is something  we want to get across

we've come here when it's night time

it doesn't take much

but you can make  something entirely original by just shifting the perspective on it

ほんのわずかな違いで

by a little bit
