Today was the first day that I went back to work after many, many weeks of being at home.

今日は、何週間も家で過ごした後、始めて職場に戻った初日でした。

And the first question someone asked me was this.

そして誰かが始めにした質問が、これです。

They said, "Hey, Bob, what's new?"

"Hey, Bob, what's new?"

In English, when you say to someone, "What's new?" you're asking about whatever they've done for the last little while.

英語では、誰かに"What's new?"と聞く時、ここしばらくの間にしたことについて尋ねることになります。

It's usually a question you ask when you haven't seen someone for a while.

通常は、しばらく会っていない人にする質問ですね。

You'll say, "Hey, John, what's new?"

「やあ、ジョン、変わりない？」

"Hey, Bob, what's new?"

「やあ、ボブ、最近どう？」

And then you'll usually tell them what's been different in your life, what you've just done, what's been new in your life.

そして、あなたの人生で変化があったこと、ちょうどしたこと、人生で新しく起きたことについて言います。

And then usually you respond at the end by asking them "what's new" as well.

返事をして、最後に相手にも"what's new?"と尋ねます。

So today someone said to me, "Hey, Bob, what's new?"

今日、"Hey, Bob, what's new?"と聞かれたので、

I told them all of the new things that have been happening to me.

僕に起きた新しいことを、全部その人に話しました。

And then I said to them, "What's new?"

そしてその人にも、"What's new?"と聞きました。

The other question I wanted to teach you today is the phrase: "What else is new?"

もう１つ、今日皆さんに教えたかったフレーズは、こちら。"What else is new?"です。

Now, this may seem a lot like the first phrase, "what's new," but we usually ask this later in the conversation.

最初のフレーズ、"what's new"とすごく似ているかもしれませんが、この文は通常、会話の後の方で尋ねます。

So, maybe Jim at work has told me a couple of new things in his life, and I've told him a couple of new things in my life.

仕事のジムが、彼の人生に起きた新しいことを2つほど話してくれて、僕も、僕の人生に起きた新しいことを、2つほど話したとします。

And then as the conversation kinda settles down, at a certain point, you might say: "Hey, so Bob, what else is new?" or, "John, what else is new in your life?"

そしてある時点で会話が落ち着くので、こう言えます。「ボブ、他には？」「ジョン、他には何かあった？」

So, the two questions to review when you haven't seen someone for a very long time, you might say, "Hey, what's new?"

さて、復習するのは2つの質問です。すごく長い間合っていない人に"Hey, what's new?"と聞きますね。

And then they'll tell you about several new things that they've probably done in their life, or maybe new things that they have purchased.

そして、その人の人生で起きた新しいこと、ひょっとすると、新しく買ったものについて、いくつか話してくれます。

And, when the conversation is starting to slow down, you might say to them, "What else is new?" and then they'll tell you some other new things that have been happening in their life.

会話のスピードが落ちてきたら、"What else is new"と聞けば、人生で起きている、また別の新たなことについて話してくれます。

But hey, let's look at a comment from a previous video.

さて、前回のビデオのコメントを見てみましょう。

This comment is from Mohd Ags.

このコメントは、モード・アグスさんからです。

And this comment is, "I see you're getting used to the new camera, excellent"

コメントです。「新しいカメラに慣れてきているみたいで、素晴らしいですね。

"I loved listening to your smooth buttery voice backed by the rustling of the tree and some bird song."

「木のさらさらという音と、鳥の歌声をバックに、あなたのスムーズでなめらかな声を聞くのが、大好きでした。

"Thanks for the video, Mr. Bob."

ボブさん、ビデオをありがとう。」

And I replied by saying this: "I'm getting used to it for sure, but I've also purchased another smaller camera that I'm going to be using in my next video."

僕はこう返信しました。「確かに、カメラには慣れてきています。でも、次回のビデオで使う用に、もう1つ小型のカメラを買いました。」

I'm actually using it right now.

実際、今使っていますよ。

"It has some tricks up its sleeves, you'll see."

This camera that I'm using right now has some tricks up its sleeves.

今僕が使っているこのカメラには、ちょっとしたトリックが隠されています。

What do I mean by that?

どういう意味でしょうか？

Well, if I move, this camera follows me.

僕が動くと、カメラがついて来るんです。

It's kind of an interesting new thing.

面白くて、新しいことでしょう。

I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to use this in my videos.

これを、どうやって僕のビデオで使うのかは、はっきりとは分かりません。

I'm not sure if I'm gonna use it a lot or just a little bit.

たくさん使うのか、少しだけ使うのかは分かりません。

We sort of bought this camera for the farm so we could show people different parts of the farm on that Facebook page and other places.

農場で使うために買ったんですね。フェイスブックのページや、他の場所で、農場の色々な部分を皆さんに見せようと思って。

But for now, I'm just out here kind of trying this new camera that follows me as I turn.

でも今のところは、僕が振り向くとついて来る、この新しいカメラを使ってみているところです。

So, if you wanted to see the tree that Mohd Ags was talking about, it's actually behind me over there.

モード・アグスが話していた木を見たければ、僕の後ろ、あそこにあります。

If I wanted to walk this way - I think it forgot where I was.

こっちに向かって歩きたければ―カメラは僕の居場所を忘れたみたいですね。

Let's see if it's got me again.

Oh no, I think it doesn't know where I am anymore, and it doesn't know how to track me.

いや、僕の居場所はもう分かっていないと思いますね。僕を追跡する方法が分かっていませんよ。

Oh, I have to go the other way.

別の方向に行かないといけないのか。

Maybe it was at the limit of how far it could turn.

回転できるリミットだったのかもしれません。

Sometimes you have to learn new things.

時には、新しいことを学ばないといけませんね。

So if I wanted to show you the shed, or if I wanted to show you something like, Oh, there's the trees that were blowing in the wind the other day, or if I wanted to say, "My house is over there," I'm not sure if you could see it.

小屋を皆さんに見せたかったり、何かを…ああ、先日、風に吹かれていた木があそこですね。もしくは、「僕の家はあそこです」って言いたければ…見えるか分かりませんが。

I could continually walk around.

続けて歩き回ることができるんです。

I think I'm having a lot of fun with this.

So anyways, this camera has a few other tricks up its sleeves.

I think it does time lapse and slow motion and other things like that.

微速度撮影やスローモーションなんかもできると思いますね。

It wasn't super expensive.

そんなに高くなかったですよ。

The only thing I don't like about it is, I have to wear this fuzzy microphone if I want to make a short English lesson with it.

唯一、このカメラで好きじゃないのは、短い英語レッスンを作りたいなら、このモコモコのマイクを付けないといけないことです。

So, I won't be using this camera all the time, but it certainly is kinda cool to be able to say, "Oh, over there, you can see the flower fields."

このカメラをいつも使うわけではありませんが、「ほら、あそこに花畑が見えますね」なんて言えるのは、確かにクールですよね。

"And behind me over here, you can see the driveway."

「僕の後ろ、こちらは、私道が見えるでしょう」なんて。

And the camera just follows me.

カメラがついて来てくれますから

I'm having a lot of fun.
