So, first of all, the basics.

Here are a couple of examples of the command form from The Avengers.

いくつか Avengers の中から命令形の例を挙げてみますね。

-Dread it.

- [ナレーター]　恐れろ

-Run from it.

逃げろ

All you need to do is have the infinitive form of the verb and drop the "to" in front of it.

基本的には動詞の不定形を 一番前に持っていくだけです。

For example, the verb "to like" becomes "like."

例えば、動詞の to like は like になります。

You also have to make sure that there's no subject in front of the verb.

それから、動詞の前には主語が来ないようにも気を付けないといけません。

Usually you'd say, "I go," "she sings," "my mom works."

普通は、I go, she sings, my mom works という言い方をしますけど、

There's always a subject, right?

必ず主語がありますよね？

With the imperative, all you need is the verb "without to."

命令形では、to のない動詞を使うだけです。

You could add an exclamation point at the end because often when we speak commands, we shout them.

最後にビックリマークを付けてもいいですね。命令する時って、大声を出すじゃないですか。

-Hulk, stop breaking everything!

- ダメだ！なんでもかんでも壊すのはやめろ！

It doesn't matter how many people you're commanding, that's all you gotta do.

何人に対して命令しているかは関係ありませんこれさえしておけばいいんです。

If you want to form the negative command form, that is "to tell someone not to do something," there's an extra little step you've gotta do.

否定的な命令形を使うときは、誰かに何かをするな、と言う時ですよね。 この際にはちょっと余分なステップが加わります。

All you need to do is add "do not" in front of that verb stem, that is the infinitive verb without the "to" in front of it.

動詞原形の前にDo notを付けるだけですけど。不定動詞のtoがないものです。

-Please, don't do this.

- お願いだからやめて。

-We have time. We can work it out.

時間はあるから。話し合いましょう。

If you want to include yourself in the command, so it's more of a suggestion for a group instead of a direct order, you can add "let's" in front of the verb.

もし自分の意思を含めて直接命令というよりもグループに対する 提案にしたい場合は、 動詞の前にlet'sを付けることができます。

-Put on the suit. Let's go a few rounds.

- スーツを着て、ちょっとかましてやろうぜ。

You can even give warnings or advice with the command form, but it's all dependent on how your voice sounds.

命令形で警告を与えたりアドバイスをしたりもできますが、声のトーンによりけりです。

If I say, "look out," does that sound like a command?

もし私が「look out」と言ったら、命令っぽく聞こえますか？

Nope!

聞こえませんよね、

What if I said something more like this?

じゃあこうしたらどうでしょう。

-Look out! Look out! Look out! Move! Move! Move!

- 気を付けろ！気を付けろ！急いで急いで速く！

Did you notice how the tone of the second word is higher and the volume of the second word is higher?

2個目の方が声のトーンが高かったのに気づきましたか？声量も2個目の方が大きかったですよね？

Look out!

Look out!

That's how you signal a warning.

こうすれば警告になりますよね。

You can also use the command form to make requests, but make sure you add "please" in front of the command and that you speak in a very nice, calm tone of voice.

命令形を使ってリクエストをすることもできますけど、命令形の前に please を付けて 丁寧かつゆっくりとした声で話すようにしてください。

-Sir, please put down the spear.

- すいませんけど、槍を下ろしてください。

Now, it's your turn.

Think of a verb and turn it into a command.

Then turn it into a negative command.

Exactly, they were from King T'Challa, and how do we know that they were command forms?

そうなんですよ、 King T'Challa のセリフですよね。どうして命令形だって分かるんでしょうか？

For one, King T'Challa doesn't use a subject, and he only uses the verb stem, that is the infinitive form of a verb without the "to."

まず1つ目は、King T'Challa が主語を使っていないという点ですし、動詞原形、不定詞だけを toを抜きに使います。

Let's check our answer.
