We asked Shimatani-san from MENSHO about what exactly RAMEN is

What is a ramen?

ラーメンとは？

When you check on Wikipedia about ramen,

ラーメンについてウィキペディアで調べてみると

It says Ramen is Chinese noodle with KANSUI in it

ラーメンは漢方薬の入った中華麺と書いてあります。

but it's diverse now

しかし、今は多様性がある

The trend is, when I say it's Ramen, it's Ramen

傾向としては、私がラーメンだと言えば、ラーメンです

For us, we have a definition for Ramen

私たちには、ラーメンの定義があります。

The definition are the 5 elements

定義は5つの要素

TARE (sauce),soup, noodle, oil and toppings

タレ、スープ、麺、油、トッピング

What has these 5, is a Ramen

この5つを持っているのは、ラーメンです。

We sold Matcha and Ramen abroad

When bringing this Ramen to Japan,

since there are many girls here

沢山の女の子がいるので

so we changed it to Japanese taste to match the needs

そこで、ニーズに合わせて和風テイストに変更しました。

people in USA or abroad likes more of the oily taste

アメリカや海外の人たちは、もっとオイリーな味が好きなんです。

but for the girls here, we tried to make it healthy

しかし、ここにいる女の子たちのために、私たちは健康的なものを作ろうとしました。

So the Matcha Ramen is healthy? -Yes

抹茶ラーメンはヘルシーなのですね。 -はい

Choshu pork is probably not, though

長州豚はたぶん違うと思いますが

Not too healthy

あまり健康的ではない

Well, it's balance

まあ、バランスですね。

With the soup, it's better

スープがあれば、もっといい

How do people react when they eat this?

これを食べた人の反応は？

When it comes out, they are surprised

出てきたときには驚きの声が

It's green, so they shout "oh gosh, it's green"

緑だから、"おおっ、緑だ "と叫ぶ。

but not just the looks but they taste it and it's great

しかし、見た目だけではなく、食べてみると、とても美味しいのです。

As I said, it's Japan limited taste

Our mission today is to try their signature meal, Matcha Ramen

今回のミッションは、お店の看板メニューである「抹茶ラーメン」を食べることです。

You can't even smell Matcha. It smells like chicken

The soup is mixed so well, it's kind of like fluffy

スープがよく混ざっていて、なんだかフワフワしているというか

The soups is thick, and like foam when you're eating it

スープは濃厚で、食べているときは泡のようになっています。

Noodles are very soft and chewy

麺はとても柔らかく、モチモチしています。

I'm not a fan of Matcha,

私は抹茶が苦手です。

so I was a bit worried I wouldn't like this

と思っていたので、この作品が気に入るかどうか少し心配でした。

but this is one of the best Ramen I have ever tried in my life

が、今まで食べたラーメンの中で一番美味しいと思います。

Seriously, it is so delicious

It's soft, and it melts as soon as you bite it,

柔らかくて、噛むとすぐに溶けてしまう。

I didn't bit it. I just touched it and it already melted on my tongue

噛んだわけではありません。ただ触っただけなのに、私の舌の上ですでに溶けてしまいました

And my favorite part of Ramen is always this soft boiled egg

そして、私がラーメンで一番好きなのは、いつもこのソフトボイルドな卵です。

Because Japanese just know how to make an egg

日本人は卵の作り方を知っているから

They just know how to boil it properly

茹で方のコツを知っている

This is 10 out of 10

10 out of 10 experience, seriously.

The Matcha flavor is not so strong on this one

抹茶の風味はそれほど強くありません。

You can taste it, but it really doesn't affect the flavor

味はしますが、味に影響はありません。

I think the chicken flavor is much stronger than the Matcha flavor

抹茶の風味よりもチキンの風味の方が強い気がします。

but seeing the Ramen so green and trying it so....

が、青々としたラーメンを見て、食べてみると、....

It's an unexpected flavor

意外性のある味わいです

That was very exciting experience

それはとてもエキサイティングな体験でした。

Despite the fact that Matcha and Ramen are not often combined together,

抹茶とラーメンを一緒にすることはあまりないにもかかわらず。

This taste was a real surprise to me,

この味には、本当に驚かされました。

Because I didn't expect Match to go so well with chicken broth, CHASU pork, eggs....

マッチが鶏ガラスープとこんなに合うとは思わなかったので、CHASU豚、eggs....

It was something I never imagined before

今まで想像もしていなかったことが起きた

but I'm totally digging this new flavor

しかし、私はこの新しいフレーバーをとても気に入っています。

and I cannot wait to try more taste of Ramen

As you can see, taste of Ramen is always evolving,

and we don't know what the future holds
