Today, we're going to learn eight words Americans overuse.

今日は「アメリカ人が使い過ぎる単語8つ」を学びたいと思います。

"Definitely."

I'm definitely going to call her this weekend.

I'm definitely going to call her this weekend.（今度の週末は絶対に彼女に電話するんだ）.

People use this word to mean that they will 100 percent do something.

この単語は 100 ％ 何かをすることを意味する時に使います。

It can also be used to agree with someone.

また誰かに同意する時にも使われますね。

"Unbelievable."

Did you see the news this morning? It's unbelievable!

Did you see the news this morning? It's unbelievable!（今朝のニュース観た？信じられないね！）

You can say "unbelievable" when something is shocking or strange.

何かがショッキングだったり変な場合は「unbelievable」と言います。

It can also be used to express disappointment.

残念な気持ちを表すのにも使えます。

For example, "Jenny is late for dinner again. Unbelievable!"

例えば、「ジェニーがまたディナーに遅れてるよ。信じられない」

"Literally."

I literally thought I was going to die.

I literally thought I was going to die.（文字通り死ぬかと思った）

Usually, this word is used to emphasize something in an exaggerated way.

通常はこの単語は何かを強調して表現する時に使われます。

The word sort of means that something really happened a certain way, but Americans usually use this word to exaggerate.

本来はある方法でその通りに実際にコトが起きた事を意味しますが、アメリカ人は通常大げさに表現する時にこの単語を使います。

"Hilarious."

Everyone thinks my friend is hilarious, but he's not that funny.

Everyone thinks my friend is hilarious, but he's not that funny.（みんなこの友だちの事を面白い人だと思っているけど、そんなに言うほどでもないよ）

"Hilarious" is like saying something is extremely funny.

Hilarious は何かが極端に面白いという意味です。

It is often used to exaggerate how funny something was.

面白い事を強調する時によく使われます。

"Nice."

That guy with the nice hair just made a nice catch.

That guy with the nice hair just made a nice catch.（イイ感じの髪型のあの人がナイスキャッチを見せた）

"Totally."

totally

I totally love your new dress.

I totally love your new dress.（その新しいドレス完全に好き）

You can use "totally" with a verb to show how completely you do something.

「totally」は、何かを完全にすることを示すために動詞と一緒に使われます。

For example, if you "totally" hate something, it means that you completely hate it.

例えば、もし何かを「totally hate」だという時には、完全に嫌いだという事になります。

It's usually used as an exaggeration.

通常は強調させるために使われます。

"Like..."

Like...

Like... I tried so hard, but like, I still failed anyway.

Like...I tried so hard, but like, I still failed anyway.（っていうか、一生懸命頑張ったけど、っていうかそれでも上手くいかなかった）

This is a filler word that people insert into their sentences, sort of like "um."

これは「um」と似た感じで、文章内に入れるつなぎ言葉です。

It doesn't follow the literal meaning of the word.

文字通りの意味は持ちません。

"Seriously."

seriously

I'm seriously going to tell my teacher what I really think of her class.

I'm seriously going to tell my teacher what I really think of her class.（マジで先生に授業の内容について話をするつもりだよ）

"Seriously" is just a way to say you will do something, but it usually means you want to do something, but you won't really do it.

Seriouslyは何かをするということを言うものですが、大体の場合はやりたくてもできない事を指す時に使われます。
