Revise basically means to learn something again

Reviseは、もう一度何かを学ぶという意味で、

To go over it again

もう一度確認するためだったり、

or to repeat what you've learned before

もしくは、以前学んだことを繰り返すためです。

in preparation for some kind of test usually.

テストなどに向けた準備のためにね。

Study is also good here

Study でも良いんですが、

It's also grammatical.

文法的にも問題ないし、

However, study is a little ambiguous.

ですが、study だと少し曖昧です。

In other words, I don't know  if you've studied this before

つまり, 以前にそれを勉強したことがあるのか、

or if you're studying  something for the first time.

初めて勉強しているのか良く分かりません。

So, in this way, revise is  actually the better word to use

だから今回の場合は、revise を使うのがより好ましく、

and the more natural word  to use in this situation.

より自然な表現です。

Okay, so that's one way we can use revise.

How about in some other grammar?

One of the common ways to use  revise is with the word 'for'

よく使うのは、revise と for と一緒に使うことです。

So, revise for something.

つまり, revise for something.

For example, I need to revise for my driving test.

例えば, I need to revise for my driving test. 運転試験のために復習しなきゃ。

I need to revise for my entrance exams.

I need to revise for my entrance exams. 入試のために復習しなきゃ。

But actually, we don't have to use 'for'

でも実際には, for を使わない方法もあります。

We can just say, I need to revise.

単純にこれでも大丈夫です。I need to revise.

Sorry, I can't come out tonight. I have to revise.

Sorry, I can't come out tonight. I have to revise. ごめん、今夜は外に出れないや、復習しなきゃ。

One of the last ways we can use revise

もう1つの reviseの使い方は、

revise + something.

So, for example, I need to revise maths.

例えば、I need to revise maths. 　算数の復習しなきゃ。

I really need to revise Japanese.

I really need to revise Japanese. ほんとに日本語の復習をやらなきゃ。

And, of course, we can also  use the past tense versions.

そしてもちろん、過去形にもできます。

I revised for the test but  I still got a bad score.

So, let's look at the word revise in  some kind of natural conversations.

So, the grammar here doesn't really work.

最後の reconsiderは、もう一度考えるという意味です。

We don't reconsider for something.

ですので、文法的に当てはまりません。

We tend to reconsider something.

reconsider for something とは言わないからです。

So, for example, I need to  reconsider my marriage...

reconsider + something という風に使います。
