Speaker Hi! Thanks so much for tuning in to my daily
speaker blog. I’m Topher Morrison. And if you’re watching this anywhere else other
than TopherMorrison.com, that’s fine, but you are missing out on some great content.
So, head over to TopherMorrison.com, subscribe to my blog and then you get these updates
all the time. Today’s question comes from a guy that I
don’t remember his name and I left my notes upstairs. But I remember the question. So
the question was and I’ll see if I can get it exact which was basically “Which area
of business do you feel is the strongest for sales people in business today?” which kind
of confuse me because all I know is about the speaking business. So I’m going to assume
that this question was, in terms of what are the greatest areas of speaking to get involve
with for sales people. And I will tell you right now, probably one of the biggest industries
where speakers can make a heck of a lot of money right now is in small business. If you
look at the economy right now, whether it’s in America or Australia or the UK or any other
country out there that’s going through the GFC, the global financial crisis, generally,
most of the situations there, you can find one commonality and that is the businesses
that are going to pull people out of that recession are going to be small businesses.
Small business is probably one of the largest growing markets that’s out there right now
and the interesting thing is, that most of this small business owners became small business
owners simply because they got laid off and now they’re force to get their entrepreneurial
spirit going on. And as a result, they may not have the proper training in how to run
their business the most effective way. And if you can go in and do some training programs
for small businesses, what’s really cool about that is you can make a dynamic impact
with them where you can see immediate sales with small businesses where you may not be
able to see that in a large conglomeration. Yeah of course, you’ll motivate them and
they’ll feel good but can you really track any sales to your efforts. Well, with small
businesses you can. So, what I would say is this. If you have
not tapped in to or looked in to doing training programs for small businesses, now, keep in
mind, it still has to be within your niche market, but I would really look into small
businesses, they’re tremendous place for a lot of growth right now and they’re hungry
for information. So, you cannot only get some speaking gigs but you can get some consulting
gigs with them as well. So, I hope that helps. I hope that answers your question because
I don’t know if you were looking for specific genre of speaking or a specific industry.
But you got the industry question answered. I hope that was the one for you.
And listen, if you have a question that you’d like to ask me about the speaking business,
whether that’d be on branding and marketing and sales or how to run the business or how
to develop speeches, whatever, it doesn’t matter to me, you can send that question to
facebook.com/professionalspeaking, just submit the question there and you will get a response
usually within about 24 to 48 hours. So, check that out. Also, go to my blog at TopherMorrison.com.
