Is everyone ready? Let's begin. Hello everyone! Today's idiom is: keep you word. Keep your word. Alright, so what's this idiom mean? Well, let's picture someone says a word and you take the word and put it back in your mouth and close your mouth. You keep your word. Okay, keep your word. Let's listen to 2 examples and think about what this idiom might mean. The first example: If I tell you a secret can you keep your word not to tell anyone? Of course, I have a zipper on my mouth! Okay, so he's going to tell her a secret and she's going to keep her word not to tell anyone, okay? The second example: I wouldn’t count on Jim to keep his word, you know he's really bad at it, right? That’s true, I guess I will not tell him after all. Okay, so in this situation, Jim is bad at keeping his word, means he'll tell many people about a secret or something. Okay, so 'keep your word', in this case 'word' means a promise, so keep your promise. And your promise could be anything. For example, 'I promise to study hard.' Yeah, I keep my word, okay? I will study hard. I keep my promise. Or you can ask someone if they can keep their word not to tell a secret and if they say, 'Yes, I'll keep my word,' then maybe you can tell them the secret, they'll be quiet. Okay, so let's try using 'keep your word' next time you want someone to keep a promise. Alright, that's all for today, see you next time!
