Hello and welcome to My Weekly Geekery, the show in which I talk about what's been going on in my geeky
world over the past seven days.
This episode has sort of accidently become a casting special.
In Doctor Who news the BBC has announced that Grammy award-winning
singer-songwriter Foxes will be singing and acting in an episode of Doctor Who
series
8. The singer is also known as Louisa Rose Allen. Karen Gillen has been cast in new
revenge western In a Valley of Violence, which is directed by Ti West.
Other cast members include Taissa Farmiga, John Travolta and Ethan Hawke.
Marvel has finally announced that Josh Brolin will be voicing the character
Thanos, the big marvel
villain, in Guardians of the Galaxy, which is due for release in the UK
on July 31st. He will also be voicing the character in Avengers: Age of Ultron,
where he will have a more prominent role.
Sticking with Marvel, Charlie Cox has been cast as Daredevil/Matt
Murdock in the upcoming
13-episode Netflix show. The show is due to start production this summer
and will be the first of the four Netflix series I mentioned on here before
about Marvel characters, the others being Jessica Jones, Luke Cage
and Iron Fist. And finally in 'Mouse mentions something which is on TV soon and which
might be quite good,' Channel 4's Comedy Gala is on Thursday night
the 5th June, at 9pm on Channel 4.
This all-star fundraiser has been raising money for Great Ormond Street for five
years now,
and its normally got some pretty good stuff in it. It's 2 hours 40 minutes long, so I
usually record it and then fast-forward through the acts that I'm not too fussed about.
Acts this year include Adam Hills, Jon Richardson, Jack Dee,
Warwick Davis, and Lee Evans, among many many many others.
This has been My Weekly Geekery.
