Today we're at Geibi Gorge in Iwate

今日は岩手県の猊鼻渓にきてるんだ。

It's supposed to be one of the most picturesque spots in Tohoku

東北で最も景色が綺麗な場所の1つと言われている。

And judging by the pictures I saw on Google

グーグルの画像検索で見たら

It does look quite good

めちゃくちゃ綺麗だったよ。

Back in 1927 Japanese government came up with a list of a hundred iconic landscapes across Japan.

1927年に日本政府は日本百景のリストを作ったんだ。

Today, I'm visiting Geibikei Gorge with Odigo Travel to find out why it made that list.

今回はOdigoと一緒になぜ猊鼻渓が 百景に選ばれた理由を確認しにいくよ！

先週、台風があったんだ。

Apparently last week there was a typhoon

この地域に台風が直撃したんだ。

It came around this area

猊鼻渓の一部が被害にあったから、 今、ダメージを修復しようとしてるんだ。

And actually damaged the gorge so they're quickly trying to repair it

あの掘り返す作業いいな。

It's time like this I wish I'd been a digger operator

めちゃくちゃ楽しそう。

To say this is relaxing would be an understatement

あの工事は別として... ここはめちゃくちゃゆったりしていて、

車で1時間くらいでこの渓谷にこれるんだ。

Drive out of a major city for an hour and bang your in a gorge!

本当にゴージャスだ。 今のところはゴージャスという表現にしておくよ。

なんか心が洗われた気分だ。

I feel like a changed man

すごく心地の良い旅だった。

That was a really pleasant journey

まるで瞑想みたいだ。

It felt like meditating or something

歌、綺麗な水のにおい、景色、 本当にどれをとっても心地よい。

The singing, the smell of fresh water, the view... it was all rather pleasant

猊鼻渓は評価通りの美しさだったよ。 本当に素晴らしかった。

So Geibikei Gorge, I'd say it lives up to the reputation, it's absolutely stunning

岩手、東北に来ることがあったら、 ぜひチェックしてみてね。

猊鼻渓は本当に素晴らしかったよ。 でも東北まで行けない人もいると思う。

Geibikei Gorge is absolutely stunning but if you can't make it all the way up to Tohoku

だけど日本には全国に渓谷があるんだ。
