It's a little important to mention is that if you want to rent a car in Japan, you can do so on an international drivers permit.

I've done that before and probably should cover that one.

We're driving the rental stuff, but wait.

Now we are at the base of Mount Fuji on.

I thought this would be a good chance to share just a little bit with you about how to do a road trip in Japan.

Kind of have a little fun and shivered can with So today we have decided Excuse the noise of the car to use back roads only know highways just kind of than the mountain roads as much as we can.

So what's the first thing on our list?

I think way drove so much yesterday that I think we've only got like one bar left on our little gas meters.

So So in order to grab gas in Japan, there's only really two words you typically need to know.

And that is regular regular gasoline and Montana, because most Monta means full tank because most Japanese gas stations were just fill it up for you.

But I've actually come out to a self serving usually have to pay in advance, like choosing amount on.

The only thing that's really different is when you're done.

In order to get your change, you grab this little receipt and you bring it over to one of these change machines, bringing just scan the barcode just like that.

And it's been so you change.

It's only really confusing if you've never done it before, so let's get on the road.

I wasn't actually rent a car with car rental.

Itself is actually not all that difficult.

You could do it online, and they show you right there like the class breakdowns for different sizes of cars, along with the price breakdown that go along with it.

But I like to just call up, shop or visit the shop in person to make my reservation.

It just makes things go so much easier, and they give you all the costs up front.

And as we come to a bit of a stop here, I will say one thing.

Driving Japan is not all that difficult, but if it's something you're apprehensive or uncomfortable with, don't do it.

There's a lot of really narrow roads.

There's a lot of cars, and there's a lot of possibility for mistakes, not just on your part, but on somebody else's.

And if you're just travelling or living here for a short time, and driving is something that you're afraid of, don't pushes like normally I'd be like, I'll push yourself out of your comfort zone and go for it.

But when lives are at stake, that's not something I really encourage.

So if you're not comfortable, don't do it.

If you are.

Japan, for me at least, has been a really comfortable and easy place to drive.

Have you noticed that people just let us in?

Yeah, like I could never.

Even in Canada, where people are friendly, they are.

Sometimes people don't let you in at the level that they do here in Japan back.

All right, something that actually mention at this point is, if you're driving in the mountains in Japan, definitely watch out for animals.

We like a little bore running out in front of the car, and I've had to deal with things like monkeys and that in the past.

So definitely be careful of animals.

Wow, it is getting really.

I am not a kid.

And get it is it is really foggy out here right now.

We're actually on the base of Mount Fuji, near the Suba Sheedy Trail.

Which Victor has never been on this trail.

But he's climbed Mount Fuji, like, a 1,000,000,000 times.

That car is noisy.

Give me his second.

I'm feeling isn't good for the environment.

And you pain.

Wow.

Take a peek at how creepy these trees are.

Way movie missed.

No, don't do that.

You can actually hear them during, like, military exercises in the background.

Not something I'm used to hearing it.

Anyway, Back on the road, I'm actually really excited by these, like Foggy Mountain Mount Fuji roads.

Victor who climbing is pretty much every single year.

Not so, not so much.

I see this for hours on end, so actually heading back down for now.

But that actually reminds me that one more thing that you have to be careful of if you're not used to driving mountain roads is more often than not right off of this side.

There's a fairly deep gutter that your tires can fall into if you're not careful.

So watch out for that and focus started how you went about them.

Which is right near the base of Mount Fuji, usually get a gorgeous view of the mountain today.

It's just a little clarity, but it's still nice.

The lake itself is also really beautiful.

I just want to share this quick update with you guys before we get back on the road.

Right now we are on the What is it for 13 for 13 in this case small mountainous road that connects us from that leg all the way to Sagami Hara on the west side of Tokyo.

And I've chosen this road specifically because it is pretty much the opposite of a highway, very curvy and wind e.

And that's actually something that I wanted to cover that if you are, if you get motion sick or car sick very easily, I would not recommend taking backside rose injury.

Yeah, there's a lot of like I've driven with friends who have been like to get over.

I'm gonna be sick, and that's what it was like driving slow because you don't you don't want it zipped through these roads because people pop up around any.

One more thing that feels a little important to mention is that if you want to rent a car in Japan, you can do so on an international drivers permit.

We're talking about the rental stuff, but way lucky, these views of the Valley apparent.

We saw some loggers working back here, and we stopped to have a little bit of a conversation.

Wait, wait.

It turns out the two of them did all of this just by themselves.

Younger guy claims that the older gentleman did the majority of the work.

All in all, it was definitely worth a stop, but time to get back on the road.

We've been really, really fortunate on this trip for people to be willing to stop and speak to us, and you notice one important thing is that we're outside of Tokyo mean generally, don't don't quote me on this.

People outside of Tokyo, more in the countryside or more welcoming, more easy to approach.

I find that people outside of Tokyo are typically not always approachable and friendly rate.

It's There's so much to see.

It's at a Tokyo, which is one of the reasons why go through the videos and the podcast.

I try and encourage people to explore the areas side of Tokyo as much as possible because you're not gonna get views like this in Tokyo, even back in Toyota, having the opportunity to interview that woman who walks through the statue area every morning.

We've been driving for, like, the last four days.

Have you had a favorite moment out of this whole thing yet?

God, honestly, I think trying it was pretty way whether to way.

That's the only time in the trip.

We wanted bad weather, and it was the only time in the trip that we don't bad.

How lucky have we beat during?

I was really, really partial to dough.

Okay, what part of delight did you like the most?

I just love the atmosphere of the entire place in general.

One more thing that I totally forgot to mention if somebody lets you in and flash your four ways for a second just to say thank you.

Did you know that?

No, I did not.

We're still in the 4 13 Okay way.

Stop paying attention to where we were like we lost, which is kind of, you know, that's a part of the adventure, but at some point, we do have to return.

The rental cars were pretty much right into the city now, and it's gotten late enough that the sun is just about going down way too fast.

But at least we got a solid night's sleep.

Last night was actually last night was actually the first night that we get a full night of sleep.

Every other night we had existed on 3 to 4 hours, and while we're stopped, I'll mention that Naby systems are good.

They give you a pretty decent lay of, But I also tend to use Google maps quite a bit, usually with actually still use my little WiFi writer from my video.

It's been good to me.

So we're just about back in Tokyo now and soothe Sun has set and we're quickly losing our life.

But I did want to mention that we've used Backstreets today, but throughout the trip, we've used a lot of highways and I didn't want to forget religion over the highways in Japan do cost mostly based on the distance.
