When they say I can't afford it or I can't do that, they go down. They become what they say. And I meet so many people “I can't afford it, you think I'm made of money?” My PhD dad he says what do you think I am made of money? I can't afford that. And my rich dad would say that's why he's poor. Poor people say “I can't afford it I can't do that. I don't have time.” Because it's an escape. “How can I afford it? How can I do that? You know what would it take? Or why should I do that?” A question opens the mind a statement closes the mind. See when you say you can't afford it, your mind shuts down and you become what you say. Two thirds of all Fortune 500 CEOs have one thing in common. Military background. Two thirds of those two thirds have something else. Martial arts. What do you learn in martial arts? Discipline. Focus. Rich people are constantly improving their earning ability. You need to improve your earning ability. You need to find ways how you can add value to the marketplace, how to add more value to the marketplace. So every single year, your income is going up every year. Poor people watch tv, and rich people read books. How many hours you spent in front of the tv and when was the last time you read a book? How many books do you read per year? Rich, poor, middle class, poverty starts with a fundamental attitude. My rich dad started teaching me about money on one condition. And that condition was he would never pay me. He says “the moment I pay you, you think like an employee.” He says “that's the trap.” Entrepreneurs work for free. The moment you accept the pay check the brain goes dead. You just got paid. He says as long as you're hungry you'll think. Rich people we take responsibility for our own failures. You see for poor people it's always somebody else's fault. It's the economy. It's the government. It's my boss. It's my job. It's my city. It's my neighbour. It's my friends. It's always somebody else. It's never their own fault. Rich people we take responsibility. If your life stinks it's your fault. We take responsibility for own action. When you take responsibility what happens is you gain power. The power to change. The power to do something different. We are what we repeatedly do. Human beings, we are creatures of habit. Getting rich is not an act, it is a habit. So is staying poor, is also not an act it doesn't just happen to you. It is a habit.
