  • What is it like doing this right now from your spare bedroom in your house?

  • Is it is it?

  • I mean, for me, this is fun.

  • It's challenging.

  • It's more challenging for, like all of my people, my director of my producers, my writers because everything's remote.

  • But for Andy and I were kind of having fun here.

  • But how is it for you in your spare bedroom?

  • Well, it's definitely weird.

  • I mean, there are a lot of people that have really risen to the to the moment.

  • The engineers at CNN who made the set looks so good and my staff both for my Sunday show in the weekday show, just like just the incredible hard work they put in to this.

  • And you know, these air a lot of them younger people in their twenties and thirties.

  • And this is this is really distressing.

  • I think that generally speaking, you know, I'm pretty lucky I'm able to do my job.

  • People are tuning in even more than they did before.

  • So in that sense, I'm very fortunate compared to a lot of other people.

  • I mean, this is a This is all brand new to all of us.

  • And it's a very interesting thing.

  • That is, uh, you know, the one thing that's kind of kept us all isolated, is is that something like this?

  • And this is the only thing keeping us together right now is, you know, because before people would be on their devices and not not really present.

  • And now this is Ah, like somebody like like him back there, Um, where we're on the air right now and pay attention.

  • All right, so So this is this is interesting.

  • How is this election gonna happen?

  • We're six months away, and no one is really talking about it.

  • I don't really understand how this is gonna work.

  • Well, it's up to each state.

  • I think in your state in California, probably, uh, you'll vote by mail.

  • I mean, I think Gavin Newsom has made it clear that there's going to be an aggressive vote if I vote by mail opportunity there, and it's gonna be the same in a lot of states.

  • You already here, President Trump acting as if this is crooked.

  • This is illegal.

  • This is bad.

  • The truth of the matter is the last incident we had of vote by mail was in a special election in California on the Republican one in a former congresswoman Katie Hills seat.

  • So it doesn't necessarily just because there's going to be an election vote by mail.

  • It doesn't mean it's going advantage one party or another.

  • But I I anticipate that there's gonna be a lot of people voting by mail, Um, and also others.

  • Others not, um, as we go into the fall and as we go into the election I people asked me to do.

  • I think Donald Trump's gonna cancel the election.

  • He can't he cannot.

  • I think he is going to sow seeds of doubt about the election as he did in 2016 Uh, all leading up to 2016.

  • He talked about how there was gonna be all sorts of cheating.

  • It turns out there was a bunch of stuff improper going on, but not what he was alleging.

  • But in any case, I think we're going to be okay.

  • I certainly hope so.

  • Um, we have to take a break.

  • We'll be back.

  • Joe Biden is, uh I think his pick for vice president is gonna be I really important right now, right?

  • Well, I mean, I think that it's not out of the realm of possibility that Joe Biden doesn't serve a second term.

  • Uh, he you and I are old enough that we remember Ronald Reagan when he was 69 years old.

  • People are like, Oh my God, that's so old.

  • And meanwhile, you know, President Trump is now the oldest president, and if Joe Biden wins, if he would be the oldest president.

  • But I think it's very important who he picks for any number of reasons.

  • But one of them is It's entirely possible that that person, assuming Biden wins, will be running for president four years from that.

  • But I and it's also I'm glad that we're gonna we know that there's going to be a woman s Oh, that's that's interesting.

  • We can narrow it.

  • I'm glad that as a political analyst, I can narrow it down ASIO as to who he's going to pick or not gonna pick.

  • Is there anyone you're rooting for?

  • One way or the other, I just I just want I want change.

  • I want I want less hate in the world in less division, So that's all I care about right now, I just care about a kinder of, you know, just a nicer environment and energy in the world.

  • I think we need that desperately.

  • It is.

  • It is disturbing toe have a world war the president of the United States makes, um, pain inflicts pain.

  • The story about the the crazy conspiracy theory about Joe Scarborough and the former staffer he had who had a heart problem and fainted, hit her head and died.

  • And and President Trump, even though her widower is out there saying Please stop This is causing the unimaginable pain.

  • President Trump just, you know, just pouring salt in the wounds.

  • And I I mean, I can't even imagine that man's pain and I can't even imagine.

  • I mean, I know people.

  • He's done this.

  • Do the McCain's during John McCain's funeral and the rest and I just or the Gold Star family during the 2016 race.

  • It's just it's just indecent.

  • I mean, grief is the one thing we're all going to feel and the idea of somebody being not just indifferent to grief, but but cruel about it is is it's very upsetting, very dispiriting.

  • Not not a good example to set for for anybody, much less kids to, you know, not not great.

  • Let's talk about the book that you wrote that is going to be turned into a movie.

  • I mean, first of all, congratulations.

  • And it's a story a lot of people don't know about.

  • Um, so that's cool that it's ah is going to become a movie.

  • Tell everybody what it's about.

  • And, uh, and again, congratulations.

  • Thank you.

  • Probably the Contender, the last castle, a lot of great stuff on TV.

  • And he filmed this a couple of you had a year and 1/2 ago in Bulgaria.
