でも皆さんに寄り添ってきた人たちは変わらず一緒よ

Now, while you might not get the experience of sweating under your cap and gown in the hot sun or get embarrassed by your family yelling out your name when you walk across the stage, you still have all those people with you today just like they've been with you this whole journey, rooting you on, pushing you to grow -and offering you a hand if you needed it. -Mm-hmm.

ずっと成長を見守り 助けてくれた人たちがね、お世話になった彼らに愛と感謝を伝えないと、近くにいるなら抱きしめて、特にパパをね、いないなら 後で電話を、ママにとっても特別な日よ、今日は人生の区切りとなる日だ、入学した時 卒業までの目標があったと思う

仲間を作るとか 新しい何かを学ぶとか―

So, give them a squeeze if they're with you right now.

次の進路への準備とかね

-Especially the dads. -[chuckles]

進学や就職に向けて努力してきた

And if they're not, give them a call later.

だが目標を達成して 最終コーナーを回ったところで―

That's from the mom. This is their day, too.

厄災が起こった

So today is the culmination of a long journey.

この数カ月で皆さんは さらなる成長を求められたわ

Think back to when you were starting your first year,

オンライン授業に慣れて―

you were probably just hoping that by graduation day,

先生側の音量調節を手伝ってあげたりね

you would've found your people, learn some new skills,

期末試験が受けられなかったり―

got yourself ready for your next step.

兄弟でパソコンを共有して苦労した子もいる

Maybe college, maybe grad school, maybe your first job.

友達とネットで会話する時は―

You accomplished all that.

不安に負けないよう励まし合った

And then, just as you were rounding the final turn,

多くの困難を乗り越え 今の君たちがいる

the world threw a pandemic your way.

懸命に学ぼうとした君たちの努力は―

Yeah. So, these past few months, you've had to reach even higher.

この先 大きな糧となる

You weren't just adjusting to a virtual classroom,

過去の教訓だ

you were helping your teachers adjust their audio

学べば学ぶほど その見返りも大きい

so the rest of the class could hear.

この数カ月でも証明された

You weren't just taking your finals online.

この先も変わらない

You were making sure your siblings had enough time

君たちは よくやった

on the computer, too, to do their work.

胸を張って祝ってほしい

And you weren't just hanging out with your friends in that group chat.

ダンスもしなきゃ

You were supporting them through all this uncertainty and loss.

そう？

That's a lot to ask of anybody,

カッコよくね　１人でもよ

but in spite of it all, here you are.

その場合はダサくていい

And we want you to know that all the work you've put in

- だね - 気にしないで

to get your education is still one of the best investments you can make.

大事なのは祝うことだ

We've seen it for decades.

卒業おめでとう

The more education you have,

一生に一度の特別な日を存分に楽しんで

the better you and your families are likely to fare.

- いい１日を - 最高の日を

It's been borne out over the past couple of months.

自分を誇って

And it will be the case for years to come.

So you all have done something great.

Hold your heads high and celebrate.

And go ahead and do a little dance.

Just for yourself.

Maybe even not so cool if you're just by yourself.

-Yeah. -Embarrass yourself.

But the important thing is to celebrate.
