Today I'm heading with my host family

今日、ホストファミリーと一緒に

to Fuji-no-mori Jinja in Kyoto.

京都の藤森神社へ向かっています。

Every year on May 5th,

毎年、五月五日に

the shrine opens up for a special festival

藤森神社が祭りを開催して

that includes a parade,

鼓笛隊や駈馬神事

a "kakeuma" horse show

お神輿を担いで

and a tour of mini shrines around the neighborhoods in Kyoto

京都のあっちこっちでパレードします。

For example,

you may recognize this spot!

これ、パレード・スポットのひとつです！

Many people know Fushimi Inari

外国人にとって、

as one of the most iconic shrines in Kyoto

京都というと赤い鳥居で有名な

because of it's famous red, "Torii" gates

ここ、伏見稲荷が思い浮かびます。

But this is actually only one stop along the way

ただ、藤森神社の祭りで、そこだけじゃなくて、

during the bigger Fuji-no-mori Festial.

多様な魅力的なスポットも訪ねます。

which is what I'll be doing today.

もちろん、私も参加します！

So now it's time to get out there in the neighborhoods

そろそろ、お神輿を担いで

and start the parade!

京都の近所を出かけます！

This is my second time participating

実は、二年前にも経験しましたけど、

but my favorite part is still how connected you feel

前と同じく一番楽しいのは、町の人と

with the whole community.

コネクションを感じることですね。

As you go through each neighborhood you can

いろんな近所を訪ねて

meet with everyone,

その近所の人に挨拶したり

drink with them, eat with them,

一緒に飲んだり、食べたりすることで

and you really feel like you're a part of something bigger.

自分よりも大きいことに参加できているように感じます。

The whole parade lasts almost the entire day

パレードは一日中続けます。

giving you a chance to see

だから、観光地以外

so many of the different neighborhoods of Kyoto.

京都のディープな所を見れるのが好きです。

And once you've made it all around

町を回って、おわったら、

it's time to go back to the Shrine

そろそろ神社に戻る時間です。

for a few more, different types of activities!

Fuji-no-mori Shrine is also famous for

行われいてる楽しい行事がたくさんあります。

it's "Kake-Uma Shinja "

or the acrobatic horse tricks

昔からの馬術の一つは

that you can go and see at the Shrine

藤森神社でも見れます。

This is a fun and exciting tradition

見るのがとてもエキサイティングで

where trained acrobats perform tricks

馬を乗りながらそんな勇壮なことできるなんて

while riding a galloping horse!

すごく驚きました！

The Fuji-no-mori Matsuri is my favorite festival in Japan.

とてもすばらしい日でした。

But whether you come with friends or family

just coming out and joining the community

is a great way to spend a day in Kyoto.
