Today we are trying something different...

今回はちょっと違って

I'm going to try and FISH for my own dinner tonight

夕飯の魚釣り体験をやってみる！

at the restaurant back there!

あの後ろのレストランで！

So this is my first time fishing EVER in my life!

実は、人生初めての魚釣りですけど・・・

...and somehow it's in a Shibuya restaurant?

なぜか、渋谷のレストランでできるなんて

Typical Tokyo, for ya!

さすが東京だね！

But let's break it down for a second:

でも、ちょっとまって、

the menu here is full of different fish,

ここのメニューは魚がメインで

and the only one that I can usually read is TUNA.

私が読める魚の名前なんて、「マグロ」だけかな？

So ME + Lots of FISH KANJI

つまり、（私）＋（魚の漢字メニュー）　エコール

Usually = me taking to long to order.

注文するのがめっちゃ遅いわけです！

[ TOO SLOW!]

（早くしろ、ロレッタ！）

So instead, my buddy Charly here

そうならないように、

suggested that I try out MyOrder

友達のシャルルが「マイオーダー」サイトを紹介した。

a service that lets you use your phone

携帯でアクセスすると

to toggle between Japanese and

日本語のメニューを綺麗な英語で

actually good translations of each menu item.

表示して、簡単に注文できます。

Let's try it out!

ちょっと使ってみよ！

So what you do is scan the menu to pull it up in English

まず、レストランのメニューをスキャンして

Pick out what you want to eat,

料理の名前・説明を英語で調べて

and then hit "translate" and show it to your server.

最後、【翻訳】ボタンで元の日本語を店員さんにみせること。

I should learn how to read these myself...

私もこの漢字を読めるようになりたい！

I see like... "TEN".... what does this say?

「天・・・」これって何と読めばいいですか。

TEMPURA

「天ぷら」

Oh, Tempura?!

あら、天ぷらの漢字だった？！

FAIL!!!

駄目だよ、私！

Good Japanese lesson!

でも、勉強になりました！

I like it because it helps to learn the actually Japanese names for food

私は、英語と日本語の名前、両方見れるから勉強になりますけど、

But it's also helpful because

もう一つ便利なところというと、

sometimes the English menus aren't the same as the Japanese

英語メニューが日本語と違ったりする時もありますね。

or even if you order something in English

または、英語の名前で注文しても

your server still has no idea what your saying

店員さんが英語わからなくても

so it kind of bridges that last step so that they can easily take your order.

英語でも日本語でもスムーズに対応できます。

Sometimes restaurants will give me an English menu

英語の書いてあったまま、

but if I actually read it off as it's written, like:

そのふうに発音したら

ONE "TAI" - Fish, Sea Bream!

例えば、「ワン　フィッシュ、シー・ブリーム！」

It still doesn't convey if servers only speak Japanese.

と言って、発音で通じない時もありますね。

Yeah, that happens.

そうですね、分かってもらえるぐらいまで

We want to make it easier to understand.

聞きながら、頑張っている。

So I'm going to try fishing for Sea Bream

私が釣りするのは「シー・ブリーム」で

which is called "TAI" in Japanese.

日本語で「鯛」というらしい。

I'm going to go fishing!

では、釣りタイムです！

In we go!!!

いきまーーーす！

You can tell that I'm a pro fisher!

This is the pro stance!

これはプロの姿勢でしょ？

You elongate your weakest arm

and DANGLE.

取りあえず持っているプロの姿勢です！

(C: Have you ever fished before?)

（本当はやったことないでしょ？）

Uh... no.....???

まあ・・・そうだけど・・

First try: FAIL!

ファスト・トライは失敗したかな。

He ran away...

完全に逃げた！

Did he bite? Oh! He's taking it!!

あれ？餌食べた？　あ、！お！

I did it!!!

できたーーぁ！！！！

How do you want it cooked?

調理方法はどうなさいますか。

Sashimi!!

刺身！

Look at this!

見てください！

I caught this!!

先、釣りあげた鯛です！！

It looks so good!

本当に美味しそう！

It's really pretty!

綺麗！！

We have ice and some little garnishes...

氷と美しい盛り付け・・・

then that's allll sashimi!

これ全部刺身だよ！

That's about as fresh as it gets!

どこよりも新鮮でしょう！

So fresh!

フレッシュ！

Bon Apetit!

いただきます！

You know how sometimes you eat fish and it's like

たまに、寿司を食べて

a little bit salty or a little bit fishy?

臭みや変な味しますけど、

No, this one's a little bit sweet!

これは甘いですよ！

I'm going to quietly eat this whole thing!

全部食べちゃいそうよ！

Here I go!!!

いきまーすう！

For my first time fishing, I didn't do half bad!

はじめてだったけど、ちゃんと釣りできた！
