hey it's Jennifer from Tarle speech with your pronunciation question quick
lesson today how do I pronounce the word itinerary this word is going to focus on
a few things that schwa syllable the short uh sound and those r vowels that
are so confusing with the spelling that that always leads to problems so let's
go ahead and take a look at this word I tried to teach this in a very simple way
with words so to say itinerary you're going to say I tin a rare e I tin a rare
e itinerary so to break this down a little bit more oops my schwa sound is
in the wrong spot what you are going to do is think about saying eye or I open
your mouth wide and move to smiling lips for that I next move to tin touch the
tip of your tongue to the back of your top front teeth with it slightly down
and it's still behind those top front teeth lips are relaxed for that short ih
sound and then touch the teeth again for the end while the air moves out of your
nose tin I tin next add the short uh that's the schwa sound it's made with a
very relaxed mouth and it's very short as a tip to make it sound a little more
natural make sure you link it to the syllable
tin and say tina tina you want that to be together i tina next move to rare and
to do this start with your R sound your lips are rounded the tip of your tongue
is either pointed down or flipped back do not touch your teeth and do not let
your tongue move r is static and does not trill or tap in English and then
open your mouth for the air you're going to open that in a nice wide circle and
then add that er and to do that you are going to again point
the tip of the tongue down or flip it back whichever one works for you and
make sure that er sound is nice and strong and long air rare rare I tina
rare and then end with an e by smiling because you're so glad this word is over
I tina itinerare itinerary itinerary and let me get my
sentence the itinerary for the flight was updated the itinerary for the flight
was updated give it a try I know people are going to notice the difference if
