I'm going to attempt ART for the first time on this channel.

このチャンネルではじめて アートに近い話になりますよ！

You see, I saw something recently I had to share.

この間、どうしてもシェアしたいことを 見つけたんですよ！

BOB ROSS(ボブ・ロス)っていって、

I used to watch his painting show everyday on TV when I was little

私の幼い頃、ずっと見ていた油絵のテレビ番組です。

and for some reason it's become this really intense meme all across the world.

最近、なぜか、海外で強力なミームとして復活したんです。

I thought this wasvjust an English-speaker's meme

海外だけのミームだと思っていたんですけど、

but thanks to DEADPOOL coming out last year,

去年ぐらいのDEADPOOLという映画のおかげ様で

there was a commercial that played in Japan,

日本でも、マーケティングキャンペーンの一つのCMのおかげで

making Bob Ross in Japanese popular here too.

ボブ・ロスという現象がミームとして知られました。

So, this is my first time holding a brush and painting oils

私は完全に、油絵の初心者、こうやって筆をもって

but I thought a video of me painting might be boring. So, Let's spice things up with a CHALLENGE!

ただ塗っていくというよりも、私はチャレンジが好きです！

This channel isn't about art anyway

そもそも、このチャンネルがアート系じゃないから

so let's use this art-theme as a chance to practice language.

アートというよりも、リスニングの一つの練習として

So, I will only LISTEN (not watch) the Bob Ross tutorial

ボブ・ロスを見ないで聞きながら

and try to follow a tutorial, dubbed completely in Japanese.

B: 私は水が大好きなんですよ！

Aa, I used too much paint!

B:　”小さな✖を書くように…” 小さな✖・・・

(B: "See how it reflects on the water surface?")

ああ、使い過ぎ！

Wait...what water?!?!

(B: "やはり水面にも写っているんです！）

(B: "criss cross strokes!") whHeerRee?!

水面ってどこ？！

(B: "doesn't this color make you feel happy?")

（B:✖を書くように塗っていきます！） どこ～～～ぉ？

("Let's add a little bit over here...")

（B:”なんとなく幸せになるようないろでしょ～ぅ！”

（”こちら側にも少し塗ります！”）

("Reflecting off the water!") Whatever you say.

”こちら側に”　ってどこ？？

("Yesss... that's right...")

（B:”水面にも映っているようね！”） なるほど。

The swishy sound kind of gives me a clue...

（B:　そうですよ～ぉ！）

Ah, no!

なんとなく、しゅ！しゅ！しゅ！　の音が聞こえるから…

("It's all up to you~!!")

あっ！ダメ！

Hold up. hold up.

（B:　”皆さんの気分次第ですよ～ぉ！”

I realized, he narrates what he's doing

まって待って！

but if you're not looking it's hard to tell what he means

今気づいたのが、やっぱりコメントが入っているけど

when he says "over here" or "on this side".

見ないと、こちら側に書きますよとか

How do I paint clouds???

そういうんだから、 「どこに？！」みたいな感じになっちゃう。

("Like thissss~!")

雲はどうやって描くの？

("Aaaa. Beat the devil outta 'em!")

（B:　”こうやって～！”）

("So blend it!") BOKASU.. to blend or blur something.

（B:　”ああああ、すっきりした！”）

("You can blend the whole canvas into one color if you want!")

（B:　”軽くぼかしていってくださいね！”） ぼかしていく。ぼかす。

I think I already did! (OK~!")

（B:　”完全にキャンバスの色を混ぜてしまってもいいんですよ！”）

I mean, I love this but I have no idea what his looks like.

"That's ok..."

いい話だけど、何を書いているか分からないから

"This will give it depth". RITTAIKAN. Depth or a 3D look.

（”いいですね～！”）

What do you mean "like this?!"

（B:…絵に立体感がでるのです！”） 立体感

こんな風にって何？！

”簡単ですよ～ぉ！”

I mean, oils are tough for a beginner

but his calm 30 minutes ZOOM by when you follow along.

(TRYING TO COVER FOR NOT KNOWING "SHIGEMI") So when you learn a language...

ウサギやリスや色んな動物たちが！

you try to learn fancy/hard words as soon as possible

（茂みが分からいない言い訳をし始める…） ネーティブじゃなくて学習者だと

and you end up skipping basic, everyday words like "ground" or "ceiling"

できるだけかっこいい言葉を勉強しようとするんですけど

and you get "good" at Japanese, without knowing basics.

結局、一番単純な言葉、地面とか屋根とか

(I START RAMBLING ABOUT WORDS I STRUGGLE WITH) but like here he repeats the same words a lot...

総言葉をできないままで日本語を上達する時もあります。

(B: "So anyway, LET's add some HIGHLIGHTS"!)

（なぜか気になった語彙をリストアップする） 何回も同じ語彙を繰り返しているから…

So, I looked up "SHIGEMI"

and it's the word for a BRUSH or THICKET.
