Wow this looks amazing!!!
This looks colorful
This is the one right? It really is beautiful!!!
Just... admire the flowers...
Director singing: Where is the lost kitten?
There she is!!!
Hey guys
It's CathyCat and right now we're on the way to a beautiful beautiful
Sakura spot out here and you said near Tokyo?
At the corner of Tokyo
Oh, it's in the corner of Tokyo, and it's not so well-known
so the director and I are gonna go by car and try and search for that wonderful
Sakura spot for you guys because it just started
It just started blooming this weekend, right? Yeah blossoms have just opened. So we're hoping for
MANKAI which is the full bloom
in Tokyo and
Saitama is gonna take a little bit longer. So the full bloom in Saitama is gonna be a couple of days later
So hopefully we can show you wonderful Sakura trees in full bloom today
Let's go!
The Tanashi Tower doesn't seem to be "tanoshii" (fun) to me....
Check it out Cathy there is a Donki Hote!
It's actually a MEGA Donki!
(suddenly both start singing the Doki Hote store jingle)
"This strange store has a random selection of many items"
What smells so good here? - Smells!!!
Wait a second it's Yamazaki bread? - Yes this is their factory here.
Yes it smells of bread it smells of like freshly baked toast!
Danger!!! - That cyclist is living on the edge!
That was really dangerous! - She drove right over the red light!
Many Japanese cyclist are keeping to the rules but honestly....
Some are ignoring all of them!
That was quite a shock just now!
(director sneezes) - Bless you!
So we have now reached Ome city.
OMEEEE
The Japanese symbol is for "blue plum"
It can also mean "green plum" - I see.
You can easily get here by train from Tokyo, without many changes.
People from Tokyo would often come here when they are tired of the city life.
We are in Ome now...
WOW that truck just now had NTR written on it!!!!
There is a "namazu" on the street signs...! - What is that in English?
It's a Catfish!
Catfishes live quite deep in the ocean and they have those antennas there right?
That's why they can sense things.
They are said to predict earthquakes.
But in truth they cannot predict earthquakes, still they are used as symbol for it.
They can't? - Has not been proven.
In the old days people used to believe in that.
In the old days they used to think if a catfish acts up, there might be an earthquake.
Its like a mascot character to spread awareness of earthquakes.
That's true.
We finally have reached a gasoline station! - So glad you found one.
Gasoline stand! - Finally!!!
Whaaat?
- We are MAN-TAN on gasoline! - Full tank!!!
Why is it called Man-Tan CathyCat? - Well....
The MAN syllable is used for full things like the full bloom. TAN could be from tank?
Full tank?
That's right, that's why we use it.
We can see the mountains now.
The mountains look so close!!!
We are no longer in Tokyo right?
This still counts as Tokyo. - Wow!
(Cathy started singing Kyari PamyuPamyu and thought this would get cut but it didn't lol)
Navi: Keep left! After that keep left. Director: Ok!
There is another tower. - You have reached your destination.
Right. Are we there?
Let's park.
Done
So we're back to my microphone style and the place we are right now is called
MAYUGURA... does this name have a meaning?
This used to be an old storage for cloth in the past days.
We used to store silk
That's why we chose a name true to it.
I will have your MAYU plate then please and...
And this vegetable plate here.
Does it only contain vegetables?
We don't use any meat at all for this plate.
It is suitable for vegetarians.
With my meal I got a card that explains to me all the ingredients used in my dishes.
The Mayu dish and the vegetable plate are both listed here.
There are some Kanji even I can't read!!!
It's here CathyCat.
Wow amazing!!!
This looks so pretty. How colorful!!
Enjoy your meal. Thank you so much.
Wow, there's so many colorful things on here.
I don't even know what to start but you can see that they really carefully select all the
vegetables and that's not to be taken for granted when you eat out
And I have a special type of rice that I've never had before so I'm excited to try that one
So what I heard now that MAYU KURA is the word of "Mayu" which is like...
cocoon of silk and similar things and KURA for storage
So they used to store here different types of cloth before they were actually made
So ORIMONO and they're using the first floor as a cafe and the second floor is a gallery and even on the walls
right now, there are many art pieces that symbolize again cloth and similar like that. So
Pretty nice .... like even the chairs are pretty cool
the way they're made so they pay a lot of attention to the design in the place
But also to the food, so it was really well selected types of food that you don't casually get to eat
There were a couple of things I've never really had the chance to eat here
and the director said he likes it, but he hasn't eaten it much either so
Wow pretty good, I think in the center of Tokyo this would be so much more expensive. So
I'm glad we got a parking space here it seems to be very popular outside everywhere
It says, "please do not park all around this place. Please park in the designated parking area"
Having the food "Teishoku" style is nice too.
There are many plates with many things that we can eat and think about while eating them.
There were some rare ingredients. How did they get those?
And I was wondering what some things were.
We both were talking and comparing each others food during this lunch.
That was fun.
Okay, the second floor gallery and I'm really curious to see what's upstairs, so let's have a look
So right now and this is a KATAEZOME exhibition it's a type of
You kind of stencil... certain designs on to cloth directly
So you can see for example the koi fish that you hang up during the boys festival or the Children's Festival
It's amazing how those colors come out in the end and the detail of it
You can kind of spot like little insects in here
If you look closely like from the distance, it looks like grass and if you look closer
There's like a couple of butterflies and here is a little spider hiding
And the tiny snail that's the cute
they're still using the old storage house just like it is
They must have refurbished all of this to make it look like this
This building is like hundred years old. So
It's been doing a good job all over the years
So the gallery does change through the months right now
It's this gallery for a like little bit over a month by the time you guys come to Japan
It might have changed into something else
It was so tasty there!!!
And our next stop is the sakura you mentioned?
We will go to a Temple called BAIGANJI
It's famous for it's "weeping cherry" which I want to see.
Ok let's go to that Temple!
And here we are at today's goal it's called BAIGANJI ji is for temple so let's have a look inside.
Wow
That's the one
That's the tree you mentioned right?
Wow it's pretty!
Okay, these ones here are called weeping cherry
So they're like willow, but they're still cherry blossoms
And that's what this temple here is famous for.
The branches are coming down so low you can touch them. You should not touch them though
So this is the SHIDARE SAKURA which is also called weeping cherry or Trauerkirsche in German and
Loads of people are coming here to take pictures and go and I can't believe that this is still right in the middle of Tokyo
It's really quiet here. The only sound you have has occasionally when one bird is calling
That's about it!
Instead of watching a mass of sakura trees, just seeing one beautiful tree
can make one feel satisfied.
It's really impressive and I wonder how many people have like come and seen this tree over all the years and
Just admired the flowers
Hello there excuse me!
Are you from this area? - I am!
What personally do Sakura trees mean to you? Would you like to tell me yours?
Sakura are the heart of Japan. They are like our roses.
Roses and Cherry Blossoms have something in common for us.
Flowers that people will go to see. - And they are so beautiful.
So, on that note everyone please out there stay safe
