With so many people staying at home, 2
folks have a lot of time on their hands, 3
and that has prompted some to come up 4
with some kind of absurd theories 5
about the current pandemic. 6
Les Trent clues you in on some of the more interesting ones. 7
Bill Gates, the world's second wealthiest man, 8
is the target of wild screwball conspiracy theories 9
claiming he engineered COVID-19. 10
The conspiracy theory stems from this TED Talk 11
that the co-founder of Microsoft gave five years ago 12
warning of a global pandemic. 13
You can have a virus where people feel well enough 14
while they're infectious that they get on a plane 15
or they go to a market. 16
He sure seemed to nail it. 17
But the way President Trump's one-time political consultant, 18
Roger Stone, sees it, it's evidence 19
of a possible conspiracy. 20
He and other globalists are definitely using it 21
in a drive for mandatory vaccinations 22
and microchipping people so we can tell, 23
quote-unquote, whether you've been tested. 24
You know what I say? 25
Over my dead body. 26
But perhaps the strangest theory 27
that many people are buying into 28
is the false believe that 5G, 29
the latest superfast wireless technology, 30
is somehow transmitting the virus via radio waves 31
from 5G cell towers like these. 32
Authorities say an anti-5G extremist 33
set fire to a 5G tower in the Netherlands. 34
Watch as he dumps a can of gasoline 35
and sets the tower ablaze. 36
Actor Woody Harrelson recently sent this post 37
to his two million Instagram followers: 38
A lot of my friends have been talking 39
about the negative effects of 5G. 40
He has since deleted the post. 41
How big a problem is managing pandemic misinformation 42
for you scientists? 43
It's a massive distraction. 44
The biggest threat to our management 45
of this pandemic right now is misinformation. 46
It's fear mongering. 47
