22 year old Jade Comstock is constantly checking 2
social media before she goes to sleep. 3
Now with the stress of the Coronavirus and just 4
kind of thinking about everything that is going on, 5
I really honestly don't go to bed until 2 or 3 in 6
the morning so definitely a lot more tired than usual. 7
A lot of people don't think, they kind of take sleep 8
for granted thinking could this really have this big 9
of an effect on my immune system? 10
I'm here to tell you that it can. 11
Clinical psychologist Michael Bruce 12
AKA The Sleep Doctor says sleep is especially 13
important in the fight against Coronavirus. 14
There are these things called killer T cells. 15
These are what help fight the virus and the infection. 16
It turns out that the more sleep deprived you are 17
the lower killer T cell production. 18
Dr. Bruce had this advice 19
Have a consistent bedtime and wakeup time. 20
90 minutes before bedtime, put the phone down. 21
You really don't need to know the number of Corona deaths 22
right before you go to sleep. 23
Why? Because all that does is increase your stress level 24
and it's really hard to go to bed when you are stressed. 25
He also suggests before calling it a night 26
make a list of what you're grateful for. 27
There's data to show that if you are positive 28
and thinking of positive things before you fall asleep, 29
you get into deep sleep quicker. 30
Also, go easy on caffeine and alcohol. 31
You can enjoy your adult beverage, but you don't 32
want it to affect your sleep which could indeed 33
affect your immune function. 34
Tips we could all use during the pandemic.
