  • with just about all of us at home impacted by this pandemic, it's become increasingly important to make homemade, nutritious meals and really stretch those food dollars.

  • Joining us now via remote to show us how to make a family and budget friendly meal is celebrity chef and lifestyle expert cat Cora.

  • Thanks for being with us.

  • Cat told me how your family doing?

  • Oh, you know what?

  • You're doing really well, We're, you know, on lock down.

  • We could be happier being together.

  • That's great, T.

  • Oh, I know, I know you were happy most the time.

  • There's been some tough times, and basically, as a mom who's figuring out all these meals, I think it could be very overwhelming.

  • So you recently started a quarantine cooking.

  • Siri's.

  • I love the name of it.

  • Corentin cuisine.

  • Tell us about it.

  • And what inspired you to do this?

  • Well, I was cooking dinner anyway.

  • I thought I would share, You know, my experience with the world and really, you know, everybody's in the kitchen cooking more than ever.

  • Right now.

  • It can be overwhelming.

  • Saw one of the share advice tips and how to cook on a budget and a plan for three meals a day now, seven days a week.

  • If you weren't comfortable in the kitchen or even if you were and you wanted to, you know, share.

  • And what my experience Waas.

  • I really wanted to connect.

  • Everybody, give them that help.

  • Yeah, and we're very happy to take some of that help for.

  • Some of us were really running out of ideas and not wanting to run to the grocery store all the time, obviously, for obvious reasons.

  • So we're trying to stretch our ingredients, get the most bang for our buck.

  • So you're gonna show us how to cook a pantry stable that does just that.

  • Tell us what you're making.

  • Absolutely well, you know what I love together protein bowls?

  • Because they're easy, they're affordable.

  • You can stretch the dollar and people everybody in the family.

  • You customize our own protein bowl.

  • And what I've got here, too, is I'm adding, I've got some beans that are shelf stable, some rice corn that I had in my freezer.

  • I had a future in tomatoes.

  • Add avocado and anything could go on a protein bowl.

  • Really, it's really about writing what you have on our pantry and freeze our best friend right now because we can really sore things for a long period of time.

  • And it could be affordable and inexpensive.

  • And so what I have here to his arms.

  • I'm having a piece of wild Alaskan salmon, and I love this in my freezer.

  • It also comes in cans because it holding the nutrients when they catch it, they freeze it right away on the boat and lock in the flavor.

  • And it freezes really, really well for a long time.

  • And that's why it's so good and it's fun to look at.

  • It's fun for the kids to get in there and make their own, And it's actually something that's really easy to pull off when you're really overwhelmed or your stress and really just want to get a great dinner on the table.

  • Yeah, because also, I imagine you can keep this going with different varietals.

  • You can switch out protein and switch out.

  • Some of the different ingredients has the same basic idea.

  • In play, it's the same thing.

  • You're just composing different ingredients right on the right in your bowl and also is really user friendly from the freezer with frozen vegetables, canned vegetables on your shelf, stable items, and it's really important to Sava or, if you haven't already is right.

  • Rice, pasta candy.

  • Like I said, Can't you can't see through anything like beings are vegetables.

  • All those types of things in your pants in your freezer are inexpensive, and they go a long way.

  • Stretch him and they actually last.

  • A lot of times you don't have to go to the grocery store cause we're all trying to stay away from that.

  • And if you can order online, order online those types of shells sticking things that will last a long time.

  • And they want, you know, you really can't stretch a dollar.

  • No, I love it.
