Well, the new labor leaders secure.

Starmer has pledged to work with Boris Johnson in the national interest through the Corona virus, said he said he would support the government if they decided to ban outdoor exercise.

But he insisted he would still call out the government over any failings in its strategy.

Earlier, I spoke to him and asked if he thought the government had acted too late in its response to the outbreak.

I think I have bean mistakes.

I wasn't convinced by the original strategy.

I don't think we've been moving quickly enough on tests on all protective equipment.

We're asking people on the front line on.

They are doing this to exercise incredible bravery and courage and what they're doing.

They deserve to be properly protected.

And so, of course, we'll push the government on that.

But we push the government not to score a point.

But we push the government to protect lives and protect our country and protect her front line.

There's an awful lot of talk about cooperation, national unity and so on.

How far does that go?

Do you see a situation where we could end up with a unity government that you would be opponent off?

Well, I spoke to Prime Minister yesterday.

We agreed arrangements between ourselves going forthe next few weeks and we'll operate to those arrangements.

We will be constructive.

But we do need thio.

Ask the difficult questions.

Well, I don't know.

But I think the most important thing is that the Labour Party plays its full part in relation to this crisis, and that's what it will do under my leadership.

For many people, this pandemic has made him rethink things.

We have a conservative government acting in ways, but only a few weeks ago would have been unimaginable.

Has it made you rethink any fundamentally long held beliefs?

I think it's absolutely clear that when we get through this and we will get through this, we can't go back to business as usual.

We now know so clearly who the key workers are.

For a long time they've been overlooked and badly paid.

They were last, and now they've got to be first.

We need to look at the N.

H s funding.

So if you're gonna clap our care workers, clap all of those on the front line.

We need to see that through with a promise of a better future.

The most recent YouGov polling showed that 52% of the public that the government has taken the right approach and they think well of the government.

What do you make of that polling?

And it certainly suggests that there is an uphill struggle for you is an opposite.

I think in a time like this and you could see it across the world, people need their government to succeed on whether you voted for the government or not.

We're all relying on it to get it right.

And so I think that is why the polls are where they are.

It's a natural reaction in a time of crisis across the world, because people are utterly reliant on the government to get it right and they want the government to get it right.

You must worry about where the Labour Party will position itself.

We now have a conservative government that's rolling out the state.

That's part nationalizing trains.

Where does that leave the lame part?

Well, let's get through this crisis.

There's going to have to be a reckoning that's going to have to be a different future.

We will lay that out with confidence in terms of exit strategy from the lock down.

One policy being suggested is tracking people's phones, whether that's all movement or their health.

I know you very strongly support civil liberties as, says your party.

But is that something you would consider?

Well, I think that we need to get the balance rights the moment.

The important thing is that people follow the advice that's in place, and I'd urge everybody to do that.

If further measures a proposed, let's hear what they are.

Let's hear the justification for them on take a judgment on it.

But we're not at that stage yet.
