What a week that was. None of us have ever seen anything like it. The Wisconsin Humane Society was deemed an essential business and will not close as the state announced a seat for a whole order. But they now only have about 40% of their staff on site, which wouldn't have been enough to care for all of their animals. They also anticipate surrenders or rescues in the coming days. Realized that in order to be ready for this, what we had to do was to get as many animals out of our shelter and into adoption or foster homes as fast as we possibly could, so that when everything settled, we would have the most capacity in the most ability to help animals. By the end of the week, every single animal who was up for adoption our facility was out in either foster or adoption, and many, many animals who aren't ready for adoption yet we're out foster 50 animals that are still too vulnerable to leave the shelter remain for anyone in the area still looking toe.
