It was sent to me by David in Vermont, who asked in the accompanied letter if I knew of a good adjustable shackle combination padlock.

Unfortunately, I do not.

But maybe some of you do.

If so, leave David and note in the comments below, but on to the lock.

It appears to be a steel or iron housing that attaches to the back of the slide, thus preventing the action from locking up and the gun from firing.

Installing it is easy.

We unlock it, place it over the rear sight, move the key to the locked position, and it is secured in place.

Now there are a couple problems with this, I see right off hand.

The first is that there is no padding on the inside, which means you will almost certainly scratch up your gun.

C decided to use a cheap, easily impressionable tubular lock to secure the mechanism.

As such, an inexpensive and readily available tool like this one can open it in a low skill attack.

Let me show you how that's done.

Just that quickly.

We got it open.

I think you're getting the general idea that this core is not something that can be relied upon to stop an inquisitive adolescent, which is my litmus test for a gun lock.
