The epicenter here in the New York area is New Rochelle, New York, where a one mile containment zone has been put into place. Are Diane McInerney is in New Rochelle? Diane, What's the latest up there? Debra. I'm here in Euro Sheldon outside a community center today, the National Guard arrived not only to help ensure some of the new restrictions in this community, but also to help people in need. And they're here to help at what has now been set up is a food pantry. And joining me now a specialist, Martinez. And if you could tell me, what are you doing here? And how are you helping the folks in this community? We got stationed here pretty much just tow support, any kind of events we have in the community. So right now, our mission is to support the food pantry and try to distribute as much goods and supplies as we can to the families that my warned or might need anything in this kind of situation. So way have breakfast. We have lunch. We have meals for the next couple of days as well, so they can come in and pretty much just be a one stop shop for anything that they might need. Thank you. Thank you for talking to us. And all of you guys are very busy, and you've got work to do. We appreciate your time and appreciate you talking to us. And now I'm going to talk to somebody who is the director here of the community said to let us know exactly what you're doing to help people in need in this community. And what are you doing? If you could show me exactly how you're helping. Yeah, Absolutely. S o. I'm Jane Daniel Boone, a director of community center here. We're working together to make sure that we're distributing food to families and need thes bags. Consists of foods that families can prepare at home for up to three days, an average of a family of four. In addition to that, we have already prepared breakfasts and milk that Children can open and eat for breakfast. So these air individual packages, we have milk, there's cereal. There's also what appears to be a granola bar. So, Deborah, as you can see, the community is out here helping one another. And certainly the National Guard being here provides a tremendous amount of help. And we will have more for you later on in the show. Back to Deborah. Thanks, Diane. Are other reporters air hunker down at home, including Steven Fabian. Steven, I know you were actually traveling last night. What was it like to be on a plane? You know, Deborah, for the most part, it was business as usual. I was flying from Phoenix to JFK here in New York. I expected the flight to be really, really empty. I'd say it was about 75% capacity. What was the mood like? We've seen something like 15 16 million people. Oh, their income to the travel industry. And we've seen airlines cutting back on schedules. Did you sense any concern on the part of airline personnel? Obviously, people are conscious of what's happening right now. People are taking notice. People arguing the proper steps going through TSA, it was very normal. And even on the plane, they're still serving food. They're still serving drinks, so you didn't necessarily notice. Ah, huge change. Thanks a lot, Steven. Of course, there are a lot of nerves and jitters about the Corona virus pandemic. And if you're on social media, there are all kinds of things being posted about how to cure it, how to deal with it. What's bogus? What's riel less. Trent's been looking into that less Deborah information about the Corona viruses coming at us fast and furious, and with all the confusion, it's tough to know what to believe. One piece of advice we found online is that if you can hold your breath for 10 seconds without discomfort, you don't have the virus but isn't bogus. I spoke with Dr Jennifer Hate from Columbia University Medical Center to debunk some Corona virus myths. There's a self test that was discovered in Taiwan to clean. If you take a deep breath, hold it without any coughing or discomfort that you are not infected. I hope that you can take a deep breath, and that being said, that is absolutely a myth False. Take sips of water every 15 minutes because the water will wash the virus down. Freaking water is good for you if you're dehydrated or if you just want to drink throughout the day. But definitely in this there are reports that CDC recommends, men should shave their beards, so this is a little tricky. It is a myth, however. If you are a health care provider and you need to be fit for your Net 95 respirator mask, it is possible that you will have to shave your facial hair that's at home. Can Sprint Corona virus? So this is a myth, although there have been some reports of people's pets testing positive for Corona virus on swabs of their nose and mouth. But it's not clear that they can actually carry the virus in any meaningful way or shed virus particles. A lot of people they'll look in the back of this lifestyle and you'll see right there, it says. One of the things that it disinfects against is human Corona virus. Corona virus is a very well known virus family. There's tons of Corona viruses floating around that caused the common cold. What life's always referring to, I would assume here is the regular Corona virus. Taking a hot bath can help prevent Corona virus meth, but taking a hot bath might make you feel relaxed. Children cannot contract the virus. That's not true. Children can get Corona virus, but their symptoms so far have seemed to be very mild and very, very low mortality. I read online Garlic is a possible cure. No, so garlic is good for you, for sure might give you not great breath, but it doesn't kick the message. Debra don't believe everything you read online about Corona virus. If you have questions, always check with your doctor. All right, Les. Thanks a lot. Jim Array is out in our Los Angeles bureau, which, thankfully, has not been impacted by Corona virus. Jim, what's it like out in Hollywood? Well, our office hasn't been impacted, but the business of Hollywood clearly has. This is really a company town in that business being entertainment, and you're seeing a lot of shutdowns and slowdowns. The agency's UTA I CME have asked their agents to stay home. You have a number of TV productions. Riverdale shut down its production. You have local shows like Jimmy Kimmel, James Cordon, no studio, no studio audience that follows with with Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, the Talk and Ellen all doing the same thing. And you're really seeing just the gears grinding to a halt as people try to assess exactly what this virus is going to mean.
