  • Good morning from Akihabara

  • With Norm again. [Norman]: Hey guys [Sharla]: So there's a surprise for me today. It's Sunday

  • I've actually never been to Akihabara on a Sunday and Norm just told me that they don't let cars in here on Sundays

  • So you can see everyone's walking on the road. I've never seen that before

  • [Norman]: It's crazy [Sharla]: This is cool, it's so much better

  • It's nice because there's so many people here, but there's room for them because we can walk on the roads. I like it

  • We have a special episode for you today, so our creepy

  • Vending machine video did quite well, and we got lots of requests to buy more boxes.

  • So we're right back today, and we're gonna buy ten boxes and

  • Somebody said, "but what if they're all crackers?", and I'm like you know what, I'd be okay with that. Those were some good crackers

  • Hey, can't complain

  • So that's what we're doing today, let's head there now!

  • We're back, the vending machines are in sight

  • So for those of you that missed our creepy vending machine video, we found these vending machines that have

  • Mystery boxes wrapped up in paper that has a creepy story on it

  • It was something really strange

  • About like...

  • Let's go look at one

  • [Sharla]: I totally forgot. [Norman]: Let's go take a peek at a box.

  • [Sharla]: "A long time ago, there were- there was an old couple who didn't get along very well.

  • The grandpa lied and said he was going to work when he was actually cheating on his wife with a kyabakura girl (Japanese hostess)

  • And the grandma lied and said she was going to do the laundry,

  • But she was actually cheating with Ken at the laundry shop. Both of them lied to each other and lived a happy life

  • So that's the kind of story you'll find on these boxes. They're really random.

  • [Norman]: And each one of them a little bit different.

  • [Sharla]: Yeah, yeah they're all very different. Some of them were a lot stranger than others

  • So I asked you guys on Patreon to vote on which boxes I should open

  • I'm gonna choose two from each machine for a total of 10 boxes

  • Hannah- "39 down there in the corner's creepy as fuck." Alright Hannah. We're gonna open up number 39

  • Box 39 is ours. Looks like it's got a good story too

  • Alright Krystal, next we're going to purchase box number 43

  • Alright, we're gonna splurge a little and go for the $10 box- box number 23

  • What could possibly be in here that's worth $10

  • [Norman]: Oh no!

  • [Norman]: Sharla's losing all the boxes!

  • [Norman]: YouTuber struggles

  • Alright, time to pack these up and head somewhere to see what's inside

  • [Norman]: Oh, there we go Sharla

  • [Sharla]: It's like Christmas!

  • [Norman]: Worst Christmas ever!

  • [Norman]: Alright, it's gonna be a happy cracker Christmas. We've actually found ourselves a nice spot up here

  • I was insisted on this being the background, but Sharla's very concerned with the wind with this camera

  • So I'm gonna stop talking now and go back to Sharla's video

  • [Sharla]: So we're at box number one. This one's really heavy, was this the expensive one? [Norman]: I think that was the expensive one.

  • [Sharla]: Let's save the expensive one

  • Start with this one- light and small. Sometimes there's a bonus story taped to the back, and I'm- not quite sure why. [Norman]: *Whispers* Bonus story

  • [Sharla]: Shall we read the bonus not- story?

  • [Norman]: I think almost all of them actually have some kind of like bonus story taped to them now. Is it the same story, or is it like

  • expansion

  • [Sharla]: So I'm gonna read like the first sentence of each story

  • I might not read them all, this video might be an hour long, but "I ordered an omu rice at a family restaurant"

  • [Norman]: It's not the most exciting start to the story, (I'm pretty sure) she's going to add more

  • [Sharla]: "And on the bottom of the plate when I received, there was a damp towel

  • Alright

  • [Norman]: Hopefully, it's not a damp towel

  • [Sharla]: Oh?

  • I see a little character [Norman]: Maybe it's animal crackers?

  • From the 70s?

  • [Norman]: I think it is animal crackers actually. [Sharla]: It is animal crackers!

  • [Norman]: Check the expiry date, if it's like, if this thing is from the 70s. I'm like buying a lottery ticket today

  • [Sharla]: 2018 April [Norman]: I'm not buying a lottery ticket

  • [Sharla]: This is the one where the chicken says "cock" on it

  • They changed it to "rooster". They must've gotten complaints.

  • This box comes with a free English lesson

  • I'd say that was worth my five dollars.

  • Box number one- animal crackers

  • [Norman]: Wow [Sharla]: We're skipping this one, too many kanji. [Norman]: Holy heck, this is heavy

  • [Sharla]: The actual story on the box is a little too erotic for YouTube

  • [Norman]: I think you should save the stories and send them to your Patreon, like reward

  • Like with like, you write a message or like the translation on the back

  • And then sign it

  • [Sharla]: Who wants the story

  • Leave a comment. Oh this one has two stories on the box. [Norman]: Yeah. Yeah, I saw that [Sharla]: Alright

  • I will save the stories, and I will find something to do with them later

  • [Norman]: She really looks like she's opening Christmas gifts

  • [Sharla]: This is fun.

  • I've never even heard of this snack

  • Box number two.

  • Ooh this one is heavy too. Now I'm confused as to which one was the $10 one

  • This one's so much longer than all the other stories.

  • [Norman]: So you can just go ahead and pause and read the...

  • [Sharla]: I just read like a tiny little part of this one and it says like

  • "The girl pooped her pants"

  • That's enough

  • It's enough for that one.

  • [Sharla]: As we were taking these boxes out, a whole bunch of Japanese people showed up

  • Actually, there are at least five people in there, and they were looking for boxes, they were like " What're these?"

  • "Oh, these are some erotic stories"

  • They're just like, really confused

  • And they stood there for about ten minutes trying to figure out what the heck these boxes are. [Norman]: Like a lot of people were coming by

  • [Sharla]: As I purchased a bunch of them, it looks like

  • [Norman]: *GASPS* Best box ever!

  • [Sharla]: KitKat! I'm

  • giving this to Keyboard-san for Christmas

  • Box number three

  • [Norman]: The bonus stories are insane

  • [Sharla]: I just want to know why, what's the point of the story

  • "The taxi story"

  • "Taxi drivers have a hard job"

  • (Reading the Japanese)

  • "Some bad customers bring their dogs in the car and

  • As they're paying, they forget their dog and leave it in the car."

  • [Norman]: What?

  • [Sharla]: Okay

  • [Norman]: I don't think that's just a bad customer. I think that's just bad

  • [Sharla]: Oh I think this is the first box I got. I remember it cuz it was all like wrinkly and old and gross looking

  • This is creepy box- I think number 39 from the first machine

  • It's more animal crackers! [Norman]: Oh man, you gonna be able to make like a full farm

  • [Norman]: Who wants Sharla to make a stop-motion video with all the animal crackers

  • Box number four

  • "20 years ago, when I used to work at a coffee shop, this old man from- who spoke in Osaka-ben (Osaka dialect)

  • Yelled at me and asked if this cup of coffee and this piece of toast is enough to fill him up for breakfast

  • [Norman]: Probably wasn't

  • Have you ever been to like- have you ever been to like a Japanese old-style kissaten (tea room)

  • [Sharla]: No they- they just gave me like a piece of bread. [Norman]: Yeah, yeah

  • [Sharla]: One piece of bread.

  • [Norman]: I took my little sister to the one like two years ago, and it was like

  • seven or eight dollars

  • And she's like "I'm gonna get the pancakes!" and like the look on her face when the pancake came out. It was like this big

  • It was like that

  • [Sharla]: I'm not a fan of those- No it's Pick Up again!

  • Should I just leave one of these like under the tree for my husband

  • Because I don't think he watched that video

  • So he got no idea what it is.

  • Eww. This was gruesome

  • It's talking about a car accident that happened yesterday and the

  • The taxi driver broke his collarbone

  • One passenger died, one's in a coma

  • [Sharla]: Right

  • [Sharla]: Merry Christmas [Norman]: That got dark quick

  • [Sharla]: That's a new one. Oh, Oh what's this?

  • [Norman]: Never heard of [Sharla]: From the 70s- chocolate bats

  • It comes with a card

  • Oh! We've got to open this one. Apparently

  • You might win a $5 bookstore gift certificate

  • No, oh

  • It's only choco bats

  • This one's really boring, it's talking about politics

  • *Gasps*

  • Yes!

  • Yes! Yes!

  • These are the ones I wanted

  • [Norman]: If you haven't seen the last video,

  • The last video, Sharla got really really lucky, and the box that she bought had these vegan crackers in them

  • [Sharla]: BOX NUMBER SEVEEEEEN!

  • Those are really good crackers

  • They taste just like Ritz crackers

  • I don't want to get demonetized!

  • [Norman]: Use bluffy language

  • [Sharla]: "When I-" Okay

  • "When I was in high school there are about 40 people in my class, but I had this one classmate named Satoshi

  • He used to eat anpan and smoke cigarettes and take his wee-wee out in front of the girls"

  • [Norman]: Satoshi sounds like a stand-up guy. I wonder if Satoshi's watching this video. [Sharla]: Are these true stories?

  • Do you think they are true stories?

  • I bet they are because like, where would you come up with this stuff

  • [Norman]: Yeah and like- [Sharla]: Nooo!

  • [Norman]: If you're gonna make something up like, pretty sure you'd make something better than that.

  • [Sharla]: It's another box of cheese Pick Up

  • Please give me a different flavor, these come in a different flavor

  • Box number eight.

  • Something about a 90 year old grandma wearing rehabilitation pants

  • KITKATS!

  • Merry Christmas.

  • Okay last box

  • "There's a country that's trying to remain as peaceful as possible so they banned wars and

  • weapons", and then just like

  • quickly reading over it it starts talking about Shinkansen and DNA and

  • terrorists

  • [Norman]: I feel you skipped like all the parts that connect back

  • [Norman]: Alright last box

  • This is it. This is like THE box, the heavy one. [Sharla]: Oh, I see red, does that mean Kit-Kats?

  • [Norman]: I don't think it's Kit-Kats

  • [Sharla]: It is!

  • Two boxes of Kit-Kats!

  • [Norman]: And they're taped together?

  • [Sharla]: Of course they're taped together

  • Would you expect any less from this man?

  • Alright, this is my haul- all 10 boxes

  • Can't say I'm disappointed

  • Got lotsa Christmas presents for my husband and for my friends

  • You guys are all getting cheese snacks this year.

  • Me and Norm actually had a lot of fun doing a Q&A today for his channel
