  • Hey guys. Sorry it's been such a long time since we made a video on our channel.

  • As you can see, we're traveling right now.

  • We're in a hotel so it's kind of difficult for us to make and upload content right now.

  • But few days ago there was a large earthquake in Kyushu in the city of Kumamoto.

  • It was pretty far away from us so we didn't feel anything, but

  • Kumamoto the city suffered quite a bit.

  • More than 40 people have died and there's been a lot of damage and people misplaced from their homes.

  • We really wanted to make a video in support of them right now.

  • We wanted to wait until we could find some good and trustworthy sources that people could donate to

  • before making this.

  • And in the time that we were waiting there was actually another really bad earthquake in Ecuador

  • where hundreds of people have died.

  • It's really awful. This has just been so horrible

  • And so we have some good sources that if you want to contribute and help people out

  • I'll put the information down in the description box of ways that you can donate to both Japan and Ecuador.

  • For Japan, our friend Micaela lives down in Fukuoka

  • which is a city near Kumamoto, and she's lived in Kumamoto in the past before.

  • She's collecting donations through a crowd-funding source that she will give directly to Kumamoto.

  • There are also other ways that you can donate here.

  • There's also a Yahoo page in Japanese that's run through run an NPO and

  • they are matching all the donations that they receive and will give that to the relief effort as well.

  • Jun and I are of course donating as well

  • and in addition we're also going to give all of the revenue that we earn through this video to the relief funds.

  • We feel really awful for the people who are suffering right now

  • and there's nothing we can say that will bring back the people who lost their lives

  • but we really want to show our support in any way that we can to the people who survived and need help

  • and that's why we're making this video now.

  • This is also a good reminder that Japan is a country that sits on a lot of active faults.

  • They've always had large earthquakes here and they always will.

  • We're actually waiting for a really large earthquake that's supposed to happen around where Jun and I live.

  • It's going to be called the Tokai earthquake.

  • I think that's what most people are expecting the next really large earthquake to be.

  • And if you come to Japan, it's something that you should prepare for.

  • I wouldn't say necessarily that earthquakes are something you should fear.

  • You shouldn't panic during them, but it's something that you should expect.

  • The chances of a really large one happening while you're here aren't that great,

  • but no matter what you should definitely be prepared.

  • If you study abroad, a lot of places will teach you what to do in an earthquake first thing when you get here.

  • So just make sure you really pay attention and understand what to do.

  • It's hard to say "Try not to fear it" because I'm sure they're absolutely terrifying.

  • You can see on twitter the people who went through the earthquake,

  • you can tell how scary it must have been for them.

  • But it's something to prepare for here

  • and it's a country that's worth it.

  • It's worth being here despite that.

  • It's a horrible thing but it's also a fact of life here

  • and it's something that we should not only prepare for experiencing ourselves,

  • but it's also something we need to prepare to help others when they go through it here as well.

  • If you want any more information or you want to keep up to date on how things are going,

  • Micaela's very active in this. She lives close by and went through this earthquake herself.

  • I'll put her contact information down below the video.

  • And I know she's also planning on making a video talking about different ways people can help, too.

  • So please check that out as well.

  • If you're able to donate something, please do.

  • Our hearts go out to everyone who was affected, and please stay strong.

Hey guys. Sorry it's been such a long time since we made a video on our channel.
