You have honored me this evening to a degree I feel I don't yet deserve.

皆さんは今夜私がまだ値しないほどに称賛してくれました。

When I read about the work of my fellow honorees, I felt humbled, and certain that among us, I am the one with much to prove.

私の周りの受賞者の作品のことを読んで知った時、私は恐れ多く思いました。

I believe I've received this award, not so much because of what I've done, but because of the way I was born and raised.

私はこの賞を受賞したのは、私自身がやったことというよりは、私が生まれてきて、そして育ってきたことの中にあると思っています。

I was born the younger sister of a gay man—my older brother Mike— and the daughter of parents who were both empathetic to, and loving of, the LGBT community.

私はゲイの男性 Mike の妹として生まれました。そしてLGBT コミュニティに共感し、愛する両親の娘でもあります。

In my household, being gay was and is, no big deal.

私の家庭では、ゲイであることは大したことではありせんでしたし、今もそうです。

When my brother came out, we hugged him, said we loved him, and that was that.

兄が世に知れた時、お互いにハグをし、愛していると彼に伝えました。

When he brought home his first boyfriend...

When he brought his first boyfriend, now husband, home for a couple of weeks one Christmas,my father's only comment to my mother was:

最初の彼氏を家に連れてきた時、今は夫ですが、クリスマスの時期に家に来て、その時父が母に言ったのはたった 1 つ。

"Please... try not to mix up our underwear."

私たちのパンツを一緒にしないで。

We had no idea that I would become recognizable because of my work, and that we would become publicly labelled as having an "alternative family lifestyle."

私達家族は私の仕事でみんなに知られ、公に違った形の家族の生活があるとラベリングされるとは思っていませんでした。

Just for the record, we don't feel that there is actually anything alternative about our family values.

念の為、私達は本当に私達の家族の価値について代わりとなるものがあるとは思っていません。

So, for semantic reasons only, it is with some hesitation that I accept the HRC Ally Award.

ですから、ただ意味論的な理由でヒューマン・ライツ・キャンペーンで受賞するのは少し気がひけるのです。

I don't consider myself just an ally to the LGBT community.

私は自分のことを単に LGBT コミュニティの支援者であるとは思っていません。

I consider myself your family.

私は皆さんの家族だと思っています。

And so, I'm doing what we should all do with our families:

そして、私は家族と一緒にやるべきことをしています。

I'm loving you, I support you, I completely accept you as you are, as I hope you do me.

私は皆さんのことを愛しています、支援します、あなたがあなたであることをそのまま受け止め、みなさんも私にそうしてくれることを願っています。

And if anyone ever tries to hurt you, I'm gonna give them hell.

もしも誰かがあなたのことを傷つけようものなら、彼らに地獄を見せて差し上げましょう。

There are many people who... nah, did I just say many? That's such a jerk thing to say.

多くの人が…あ、喋りすぎましたか？勝手なことを言い過ぎましたね。

There are people who have said that I'm being brave for being openly supportive of gay marriage, gay adoption, basically of gay rights.

私がオープンにゲイ同士の結婚、ゲイの養子、基本的なゲイの人権を支持していることについて勇敢だと述べている方が大勢います。

But, with all due respect, I humbly dissent.

しかしお言葉ですが、申し訳ないのですが意義を唱えたく思います。

I'm not being brave; I'm being a decent human being.

そんなことはありません。普通の人です。

And I don't think I should receive an award for that.

私はこのことについて賞状を頂くべきとは思っていません。

Or for merely stating what I believe to be true, that love is a human experience, not a political statement.

単に私が真実と思っていることを述べているだけで、愛は人間としての経験で、政治的な声明では無いのです。

However, I acknowledge that, sadly, we live in a world where not everybody feels the same.

しかし悲しいことに、私達はみんなが同じことを感じる世界には生きてはいないということを知っています。

My family and I will help the good fight continue until that long awaited moment arrives.

私と家族は長く待たれたその時が来るまで戦い続けるのを助けましょう。

When our rights are equal, and when the political limits on love have been smashed.

私達の人権が平等で、愛への政治的な制限が打ち砕かれる時です。

This award does not...

この賞は…

This award does not in any way represent the pinnacle of my relationship with the LGBT community.

この賞は LGBT コミュニティとの最高の関係を示すものではありません。

Rather, it is a triumphant roar to announce that we are just beginning our fight together.

むしろ一緒に戦い始めたことを宣言する第一声です。

In closing, to paraphrase Ennis Del Mar, who was unforgettably embodied by the late, the great, Heath Ledger,

最後になりましたが、亡くなってしまった偉大な Heath Ledger 忘れられない方法で具現化された Ennis Del Mar さんの言葉を引用します。

I have not yet done enough to deserve this award, but don't worry, the best is yet to come.
