  • Gentlemen, thank you so much for continuing T o.

  • Oh, you look forward to this.

  • It's time to hear from one your teammates.

  • Now, come on up, Kevin.

  • Be except Thanks, shorty.

  • Pretty fitting that Shorty's the host of this night because he's been here every step of the way with the twins.

  • And I think I can speak on behalf of all of us when I say we don't hate hearing your voice.

  • But, you know, when they first asked me to come out here and say a few words on behalf of Danny and Hank, my first thought waas to roast him.

  • But I mean, I don't know why I had that thought in my head, but it could have something to do with the fact that Katzenberg tax would be to roast, um, but nevertheless, put this up here.

  • I've been to a few of these ceremonies before with Na Z and Trevor and Big Mats and Toronto understand the things that you're supposed to highlight and the things that you're not like when we had all chalk blows the water on the road the night before the game and Danny and Hank would host cheesecake parties in the room for all the Swedes.

  • I mean, they would drink black coffee, so I guess it's all right.

  • But you know how we'd all come to our first training camp in really good shape?

  • Well, Hank never got that memo.

  • He brought in extra £15 of them and said, but he lost it.

  • And then there's Danny.

  • It's got a legitimate candy addiction.

  • He eats half of his body weight in sour keys and Swedish Berries every Saturday, but but that's so important.

  • That's not relevant.

  • What we're here to talk about is sitting Marie and the Twin Connection and The Sixth Sense and Theo.

  • No look passes.

  • The given goes, you know, the finding bird back door for another top in, You know that.

  • No, But seriously, the Daniel Day Henry across I sauce on as east a pond full flight?

  • No, the cycle fighting Anson Carter in the slot Noma t s room in the park.

  • Henry taken it off the wall.

  • Blind Pastor Daniel Quadruple overtime victory against Dallas in the playoffs.

  • Theo, that's That's the greatness we came to expect on a nightly basis from these two.

  • And again, I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but part of the reason that they always knew where the other was on the ice is because they were an ear piece and they talk to each other.

  • And they told each other when they were open and I approached him one time and I said, What is that?

  • And they said, Well, we have a word in Sweden that we used to explain it.

  • And was it again?

  • Oh, yeah, cheating.

  • And I thought, Yeah, no kidding.

  • So anyways, I followed their lead and I tried it with Bird.

  • But I couldn't understand anything he was saying when I gave a warm or try with Roberto, you know, the year he was the captain.

  • But every time I try to communicate with him, he told me No comment.

  • Don't worry about it, Lou.

  • But anyways, my point is, the cities were are great athletes.

  • I know we all know that Daniel recently won the sword and win, but he ran the marathon in sub three hours and Hendrick this one time in Atlanta.

  • Better the bunch of us that he could juggle a soccer ball 1000 times in a row before practice in the hallway.

  • I don't know if you remember this.

  • Can you even hear me?

  • No, don't worry about it.

  • But anyways, he juggled the first, like 80 on his forehead like a seal.

  • And then when he was at, like, six or 700 I just kicked the ball away from him and gave him his money.

  • But the point is, they're great athletes.

  • But for me, the three things that I truly admired about these two guys over the years were their accountability, always looking themselves in the mirror first, never pointing the finger, shouldering the blame in the media for the rest of the team.

  • And that's hard to do in a Canadian market when pressure is high, how hard they worked.

  • I mean, we've already established the fact they had terrible eating habits.

  • So, through all the roller blading in the summer and the trail runs and the bike races and the strength trading with Roger Takahashi, they put themselves in a position where they're always the second and third best condition guys on the team.

  • But anyways, the third quality and the one that stands out to me the most is how kind and genuine they are and how they treated everybody around them.

  • And if you've ever run into him before, if you've ever run into him before around the city, in a coffee shop or a hockey arena or a Kia, you know what I'm talking about.

  • These are jokes, but that filters right through their family, their wives, Marinette and Joanna, who have supported them and sacrificed and given so much back to this community through not only their Children's hospital donations, but the City and Family Foundation and Maronites work with C FAC and you know that's been absorbed by everyone around them.

  • And there's a city in culture to this organization, and it's been absorbed by guys like Alec Sadler, Kristan F.

  • Jacob Markstrom and our new Captain Boll.

  • And I've already seen Theo and I've already seen them pass it along to Petey and to Quinn and to Brock, and they'll pass it along to the next generation of core players.

  • And in 20 years in 20 years, there will still be a sitting flavor to this organization and a city in culture in that dressing room.

  • And that's something that will transcend any on ice statistics that they have.

  • So on behalf of all their former teammates, trainers, coaches, management and the people of Vancouver, we're grateful for who you are.

  • You're the two best players and people to ever wear the cannot Jersey.

  • We love you guys.

  • And there's no one more deserving of this honor school theme having me exa.

  • Thank you, Kevin.

  • Daniel, Henrik, You guys have given so much of yourselves on and off the ice all these years.

  • We're hoping tonight it could be your turn to receive.

  • So we asked you guys to please come up and join me over here and joint Paolo and Francesca Wah Collini on this side of the podium for a special presentation, right?

  • That's right.

  • We know how much you love horses.

  • So, like a doc's organization in the accolades, thought it was fitting to give you both a V i p experience at the 2021 running of the Roses, the Kentucky Derby.

  • It is amazing you catch them.

  • Maybe in the corner of the dressing on the computer, watching horse races from back in Sweden, seeing how their horses were doing a little more time for that now.

  • Banking Daniel.

  • Wait.

  • That's not all.

  • What?

  • Bo Horvat, a long time teammate, Alex Adler.

  • Please join us from revealing what the players have for you.

  • Pack your bags, boys.

  • Team wants to send you on a trip Destination of your choice.

  • I hear you.

  • Because beautiful this time of year, Burkey will drive you to the airport.

  • Thanks, Bo.

  • Thanks, Alex.

  • And thanks to the Canucks for helping us celebrate with the twins here tonight, I know you're getting comfortable there.

  • I apologize.

  • But it's time, boys.

  • Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the podium.

  • Daniel and Henrik City.

  • Thanks, Shorty.

  • First off, we just want to give our best to Jay Bouwmeester and his family and hope for a quick recovery.

  • It's It's pretty amazing.

  • The three players from the same small community in our hometown now you have the jerseys retired in like over.

  • We wouldn't be in Vancouver if it burns for two people, Thomas Greene and Brian Burke.

  • We owe a lot to Thomas.

  • He was her biggest supporter and he worked really hard to convince Burkey that we could be NHL players, and we still call it Thomas, a great friend.

  • We'll never forget sitting in Boston at the draft expecting to play for different teams.

  • We see Burke and Thomas work over to us five minutes before the draft starts Steel Thursday.

  • We're not sure Burke how you did it, but I'm forever grateful.

  • Thank you, Thomas.

  • Emotionally easy leaving our small hometown.

  • I'm moving to a big city halfway around the world.

  • But what I said if it came to there was certainly tough times in those first few years.

  • Expectations were higher from the outside by more so from ourselves, and we felt like we didn't live up to them.

  • It always to help going through this, having your brother by your side.

  • But even I would have been possible without the Masons support from teammates and coaches Marcus Nazem to follow your footsteps from altering all the way to stand here.

  • Tonight is a big honor, and we don't think you know how much you looked up to you way even followed your advice to order apple pie but ice cream on the road.
